Spurs make their point
by Alan the librarian
Under the circumstances I fail to see how that can be considered anything other than a very good point. If you need convincing just imagine the spurs of not long ago going to an in-form Liverpool without a few star players and their manager. Infact, I would actually imagine a scenerio where players like Ginola (bless him) turn to Booth (fcuk him) and say 'no one expects us to win, so let's just have fun'.
That attitude brings an exciting game for the neutrals.............more

Kaboul's absence raises more concerns about transfer business
by Alan the librarian
Younes Kaboul took to twitter to announce that the swelling around his knee has yet to subside sufficiently to play in this evenings crucial premier league encounter at Anfield.
This leaves Harry with Dawson and King available for tonight which is OK as they are a tried and tested formulae. I am not worried for tonight.
It's only if Kaboul's injury is longer term that I will be greatly concerned. Swelling around a knee after a week's rest doesn't sound good a.............more

Spurs vs Liverpool preview
by Alan the librarian
This is probably the worst time to be playing Liverpool. Two massive cup wins and a convincing PL victory against Wolves have galvanised a Liverpool side that WAS under pressure. Suddenly Kenny's god again. Great!
As I have written a few times before, this is the story of our season. We play Newcastle next week and they'll have BA and Cisse in the side. Arsenal are stronger now in their full back positions and UTD's injury crisis is easing just nicely before we play them.............more

More information added to previous post on NextGen
by Alan the librarian
What a cock-up. Spurs have had to withdraw from the NextGen for fielding an ineligible player in their tie against Liverpool at White Hart Lane.
Windy (who follows our youth teams) reckons it's Bentaleb as he was the only new player to be included in other games. EDIT - He played as a 61st minute sub even though he wasn't registered in the NextGen squad. This is uncomfirmed but best people can do based on the fact he's not on the squad list on our official site. No o.............more

Unprofessionalism ruins young boys Euro dreams

What a cock-up. Spurs have had to withdraw from the NextGen for fielding an ineligible in their tie against Liverpool at White Hart Lane.
Windy (who follows our youth teams) reckons it's Bentaleb as he was the only new player to be included in other games. No one is certain what this error was as the club are not revealing it. Frankly it makes the matter worse and I hope someone is severely reprimanded for this error.
Can you imagine what our young players feel tow.............more

Good night on the pitch, poor night off it
by Alan the librarian
Lets focus on the matters on the pitch first as that is ultimately what matters. Last night was a critical result. 2 further points ahead of Chelsea and we've wiped out the defeat to City in terms of the title race.
I thought first half we played really well. Bale, Modric and VDV were bright and inventive and all the players showed a desire to get back to winning ways by putting in a good performance.
From an attacking perspective, I thought Bale was excellent. Some disagr.............more

No Remy, Harry but I got you Saha
by Alan the librarian
Marseille claim to have turned down a 18m bid for Loic Remy from us today so in a stop gap measure spurs were 'forced' into signing Saha.
That'll be the spin. It's bvery disappointing First of all the bid for Loic Remy was - as I said at the time - completely unrealistic. There you have a side who are chasing the title in France, a CL place and are in the latter stages of this year's competition. Unless they are in real financial difficulty, why would they sell and .............more

27m bid accepted - the Mayor and Haringey Council.
by Alan the librarian
I said not to expect any big signings this deadline day but we have just announced accepted a huge bid today in an agreement that is perhaps beyond any impact a player can make.
In a joint statement from the the Mayor, THFC and Haringey Council, today it was finally announced that Tottenham have accepted the public sector investment needed to push the stadium construction forward.
The total investment is 27m (18m from Boris, 9m from Haringey). Levy will think that is b.............more

A game and a transfer deadline - heaven surely!
by Alan the librarian
How brilliant is this from a fan perspective? My only fear is how distracting this all will be to the players who have a job to do. We play Wigan this evening in the background of a transfer window and a tax evasion trial. This is a true test of the players character.
A test that they failed last year when they played Wigan having come back from a CL game and got beat 1-0. Keep that in your minds would be my message to the players.
In terms of the game, I am desperate for L.............more

What were they doing whilst the cat was away?
by Alan the librarian
When they say football is a funny old game, what they mean is that you don't always get what you deserve. That's not funny really. Watford batter us all game, yet end up being dumped out the cup, yet on Sunday we put in a very good display and potentially fall out the title race.
We didn't do ourselves any favours tonight. We started with no wingers (4-3-2-1) so the instruction (I'd imagine) was for our full backs to push forward and provide width. Now wh.............more

Time for some man-love for 'Arry
by Alan the librarian
Tonight's going to be a tough evening for our boss. The threat of a convinction, imprisoment and a career in tatters just as it he is hitting his prime is hard enough for any man to take, let alone one with a bad heart and one with very real and current pressures of managing a premier league football club.
He'll get some abuse tonight from the Watford fans. So let's show him some man-love tonight. He's statistically our best manager for many a generation and deserves a g.............more

Not looking good for Harry - long post but lots to contemplate
by Alan the librarian
I would reccomend anyone to follow this trial on twitter as it is as much engaging as it is concerning, from a Tottenham Hotspur perspective.
What I find interesting is that Harry was on a performance related bonus at both West Ham and Pompey, whereby he would get a percentage - between 5 to 10 percent - on any profits made from a player brought and then sold under his stewardship. First of all, that partly explains why Harry loves a transfer. The other reason being that his scouting ne.............more

Fine margins
by Alan the librarian
Not sure what to pin that defeat on. Lack of experience, belief, luck, refereeing mistakes. The game had it all. It completely ruined my Sunday evening and judging by the players' reactions on twitter, they are feeling sick. Gutted was trending.
Spare a thought for Harry who has already arrived at Southwark Crown Court for his 2 week trial into tax evasion.
The first half was very tentative. I would put this down to lack of preparation on how to play without Adebayor. In f.............more
