Stadium, Joe, Henry, Another Croat...the week that was

by Alan the librarian

There's not a great deal going on in the world of THFC. The club are continuing their pre-season preparations state-side and apparently won last night. I am committed to spurs but staying up till past 3am to watch a friendly game goes beyond my commitment. Respect to those who did though.

However, trolling through newsnow there's a couple of negative stuff to review. Let's be honest, they are not the end of the world stuff but they are noteworthy during this off-season perio.............more

Do Harry and Levy need to find a middle ground?

by Alan the librarian

Thus far the relationship between our manager and chairman has been very successful. A top 4 place was followed by some standard issue, mutual back tapping. Levy heralding his appointment of Harry as the best decision he has made and Harry crediting Levy s determination in securing several of his transfer targets.

So all appears rosy at spurs. I would suspect, however, that this is not a natural process. There are differences between the two at the head of our helm. For example, whilst .............more

Gio or Joe?

by Alan the librarian

OK, so according to Harry, Joe Cole has gone from having 'agreed a deal with someone else' to have 'as good a chance as any' of signing for us, all in the space of a fortnight. You got to admire the way Harry uses the media like his very own Twitter account. He serves the bullshit and they eat it up like blue-arse flies.

If this was purely a football decision, Joe should pick us over Arsenal. Don't get me wrong, I believe Arsenal have just as much, if it not more, po.............more

England woe could damage Tottenham's future

by Alan the librarian

If the FA behave like they usually do then I feel spurs are in trouble.

My first guess is that Capello will be relieved of his post before England's next game. Secondly, Harry will be targeted as England's next manager.

I believe Capello will be sacked, not for his tactical ineptitude, which would be a justifiable thing to do, but after the FA consults senior England players.

I don't think the decision makers in the FA know football so how can they judge.............more

Harry admits Cole interest

by Alan the librarian

After weeks of media mind games, Harry has shown is hand in the race for Joe Cole by admiting we have been in contact with his agent.

That said, no progress has been made beyond that as Joe is keen to carry out his international duties at the World Cup prior to sorting out his club duties. If true, good on him. Personally, I think he's already sorted it out with Arsenal but I am cynical when it comes to footballers ability to do the right thing.

Owing to the fact he's .............more

Review of fixtures

by Alan the librarian

As the world cup continues to bore us to death, it's perhaps timely for the premier league to unveil the fixture list now for season 2010-11.

We kick-off at home against City. Last season both sides battled it out for 4th place but if I was a City fan I would be disappointed if they were only targetting 4th this year. Nonetheless, I fancy us at home against any side. My only concern is the proximity of the champions league qualifier to this game but I am not going to moan about bei.............more

Why hasn't Harry been offered a new deal?

by Alan the librarian

The good news is that Harry has pledged his immediate future at WHL and in doing so, dismissed speculation linking him with the vacant position at Liverpool.

"I have one year left on my contract at Tottenham and I am not thinking about anything other than being at White Hart Lane next season.

"I can tell you that I have not been offered a new contract, but that doesn't mean I am looking to move on - far from it.

"I am loyal to Spurs, I want to stay at S.............more

Harry Red-knapped?

by Alan the librarian

According to Sky Sports sources, Liverpool are lining up an approach for our manager, Harry Redknapp.

Normally such a rumour would be met by widespread panic across spurs forums but I don't get a sense of that this time round.

After experiencing contrasting fortunes last season, many feel Harry would be 'mad' to leave Spurs for Liverpool. We are in the Champions League (albeit the qualifiers), have financial stability and are on an upward curve. Liverpool, .............more

Luka signs new deal

by Alan the librarian

Luka Modric has joined team mate Gareth Bale in signing a new deal which the club were keen to point out is for a whooping 6 years.

Speaking about his new contract and future ambitions, Luka said, "Tottenham Hotspur gave me my chance in the Premier League and I want to go on to achieve great success here with them. Yes, there have been enquiries from other big clubs, but I have no interest in going anywhere. Last season's Top 4 finish was an indication of where we are as a Club .............more

King and Crouch start for England

by Alan the librarian

Fabio Capello has named Ledley King in the starting XI for tonight's friendly with Mexico.

Ledley was inspirational in our fourth place finish and after reporting for training everyday this week, he probably feels an assured display tonight will see him book his place to South Africa.

He is joined by club team mate Peter Crouch in a side that has a nice blend of regulars and fringe players.

Harry needs to look forward to achieve success

by Alan the librarian

After clinching our place in the champions league for next season, Harry was quoted last week as saying he is largely content with his playing staff.

"It's difficult to improve this squad. If Woodgate comes back fit, we've got good options everywhere," he explained.

Redknapp nevertheless recognises that spurs have to build on their success and he is prepared to spend big money on a 'special' signing.

"But if we could find a really special pl.............more

Discuss your best and worst moments of 2009-10

by Alan the librarian

So that's 2009-10 season done with then. Not the greatest ending but the rest wasn't bad (best ever PL season on record in fact). I promised an end of season review but you all witnessed it and probably have far more interesting views and experiences than I do. With that in mind, I am inviting fans to share with others their thoughts on the following (along with my own suggestions):

Spurs manage expectations

by Alan the librarian

Nothing like losing a 2 nil lead at the hands of an already relegated club to bring you back down to earth huh?

Just typical of spurs to make my final review the most difficult. Do I focus on the game itself or the season overall?

I am just going to write what I feel and allow you to judge.

Yesterday's performance was extremely unprofessional, bordering on pathetic (OK I guess I am going for the former). Granted, the game meant little in the context.............more
