OK, so according to Harry, Joe Cole has gone from having 'agreed a deal with someone else' to have 'as good a chance as any' of signing for us, all in the space of a fortnight. You got to admire the way Harry uses the media like his very own Twitter account. He serves the bullshit and they eat it up like blue-arse flies.
If this was purely a football decision, Joe should pick us over Arsenal. Don't get me wrong, I believe Arsenal have just as much, if it not more, potential to win things than we do but his former employers won the league last year. Silverware, I suspect, is not upper-most in his thinking. He says he wants to be loved, he wants to play regularly. He'll get that with Harry and spurs. Arsene and Arsenal probably like the idea they can get something for nothing, as cover for another injury-prone player like Rosicky or Nasri. Perhaps even to fill the homegrown qouta. I don't know. Time will tell, and although the media have hyped this transfer as a 'battle' between the two north london clubs, when thinking objectively, the loser will probably not lose too much sleep.
As I said, spurs would get more from signing him but we are not without our own alternatives either. We have the two Croats in Luka and Niko and the World Cup has also put Mexican back on the menu.
Giovanni Dos Santos looks a top player. Great passing ability, lovely movement and bursting with energy. As usual he's also coming out with the right things, claiming he wants to go back to spurs and fight for his place. Last season, he even had his parents apologise on his behalf for his lack of effort. Bless him.
I am not convinced. He's always played well for Mexico and he always says the right things. What happens behind the scenes at club level appears a different story. Often getting into training late or not appearing at all. Dashing back to Barcelona at any given opportunity. Many say he just needs a chance but I feel, like with Pav, you have to earn it in training first.
I am sure Gio, in sporadic burst, would be great in a successful, free flowing side and most of last season we were exactly that. However, when we experience dip in form or the weather gets cold and we are playing Newcastle or Blackburn away, would I want Gio in the side? I have to say no. Would I want him in the dressing room? Not really. Joe Cole can be relied upon (when fit). He lives for football. Gio, in my opinion, lives off the back of its fame.
IF he can change then great. He is just as talented than Cole and he's also younger and cheaper (wage-wise) but that's a big if and it appears Harry's made his mind up on that.
Gio if he stays has to settle and stay off the booze...he was in the clubs all the time..did not train well and has an ego....Gio did nothing in his loan spells so lets hope the platform of the world cup that showcased his talents is given a chance to shine at the lane.As for joe cole would he upset the apple cart with players on less money etc...would he give us what we want or would it make us a little unbalanced...
Joe Cole has never, truly, proved himself despite being maybe justifiably hyped as the greatest of all the West Hamm prospects of ten years, or more, ago. Bale isn't the full-back that Ekotto is, so having him back there and Cole ahead of him, when Cole isn't as fast, doesn't make much sense. Giovanni? Who knows, he's one of the greats, already, but too immature for the week-in, week-out responsibility. Cole would be the greater asset in the dressing room, but a focused Giovanni would be the asset on the pitch.
We already have Gio so lets make use of him and see if he can cut the mustard. I think he would be an assesst on our European travels. If we can get JC for free then why not but we dont really need him. I am alraedy excited by next season (among other things that also excite me) I am looking forward to seeing you nice naughty men on the Paxton Road againg. Remeber I alwas we wear my long sleeved purple shirt with 69 Horny Helen on the back, why not come and say hello to me, if you dare?
has anyone seen some concrete evidence of "boozing" or "clubbing"? there was one pic of a 19 y/o kid who had one too many during a xmas party. Since then it has been all rumours. There was one clandestine party in dublin attended by all spurs players, except gio. there was the king incident, yet the boozing theme keeps coming up from some mysterious sources. where is the proof????
all the nonsesne about joe cole 'lives for football'. if thats the case why are his wage demands still so high?
Been chewing on this one fora couple of weeks now aswell. I've drawn the
conclusion that Joe c is not the player he usd to be, Capello and CHelsea would of had him at the front of their troops if he was. He was a greaT player to watch a few season's back, but GBale offers non stop swashbuckling action so.....???!!! Still he has winners medals and cleague exprience to boot and as long as it aint coming out of my account who cares what he costs. Rednapp /Levy can easily afford it.
Hello Alan,
Just a couple of points I'd like to make here regarding Joe.The first is he has gone on record as saying that he wishes to play in the number ten role, and be under the employ of a manager that loves,or rather appreciates him more,a s in the days of his West Ham affair.
He has however also said that he wishes to play in team that appreciates a good footballing style rather than that of a kick and run ethos, here he gave Arsenal,Man UTD and Chelsea as his examples, though I am pretty sure he would have been reminded by Harry as to how his old West Ham team, and our very own Tottenham go about there business.
Both points here should give those in favour of Joe Cole joining Spurs a lift as Harry can bring both of his wishes to life, although only time will tell.
As for Gio I can see no reason why we shouldn't employ both as with the amount of games there will certainly be injuries and loss of form.
Cole is an opportunity not to be missed at the price (nothing).
Gio can come back and prove himself, learn a bit from the former Spammer and take his place in a couple of years. Sorted.
Now where's this marquee signing Harry? Ibrahimovic will do me...
Joe Cole would not come to us "for nothing." He would demand the highest salary though he would not be the best player on our roster. Gio has played for what, six months? at Galatasary where I expect his drinking and nightlife excesses have been brought under control He himself has said he has changed for the better and is willing to work hard.
Keep Gio, forget Joe Cole.
I don't see how Cole will fit into the team? He has experience of important games, granted, but I don't think he brings enough talent to risk upsetting the balance on and off the pitch.
joe cole just needs to be given a chance and a run in a team that is prepared to let him just play, we are now well hopefully going to have a run of games in the champions league as well as turning out on the sunday after and the depth in squad and just another option are a must, Gio also would be a good option if we can get the best from him. Our problems next season i feel again will be the fullbacks! i just dont trust corluka or bae and the other option dont look much better, if we can get micah richards then that would be for me a good signing.
So where will Joe Cole play. He wants to play centre!. Doesn't Modric already play there. I think Harry should focus on getting a proven striker and 1 maybe 2 centre halfs for when king and woodgate breakdown
Has anyone seen the rumours about us getting multiple sponsers for next season? http://triffictottenham.co.uk/spurs-to-have-multiple-shirt-sponsors/
I'm not sure if this would be against Premier league rules as essentially it'd mean us having (assuming we get 4 sponsers, one for each competition) 12 different kits. Obviously this increases the odds on us getting one without a sponser in red but, TWELVE KITS!? If this really was a viable option I could honestly see Levy doing it because if anyone knows how to make a few quid it's Levy.
it doesnt matter where he plays, its all about options now and as a club if we want to improve we have to have more options. last season palacios started of as a must! come end of season we done better with out him.
3 different sponsors i read somewhere, ground breaking if that is the case?? if that is the case then i can see the end of the usual 3 or 4 year deal and open up a one off match day sponsor i.e SKY SPORTS sponsors!! long way of maybe but maybe we could command a million a game??
Summer wish list : - Stipe Pletikosa - back up for Gomes. He is a proven international quality keeper and Harry loves his Croats. Micah Richards - can play right or centre, remember he was an England international right back (and a good one at that). Corluka is a steady reliable right back and Kaboul impressed there late last season, for me Richards would be first choice as long as he doesnt foray beyond Lennon and suffocate him (as Johnson does for England). Joe Cole on a Free would be a great bit of business and would offer us alternative options, can play left, right and in an advanced midfield/supporting striker role - proven prem quality a real goal threat and a typical Harry signing. I want Craig Bellamy too, again his versatility and electric pace would give us options. Can be affective on the left as part of a 4 or wide left as part of a 4-5-1/4-3-3 - can play up through the middle too. Then there's the 'marquee' signing ... I'd love Ibrahimovic or Benzema or Aguero or even Huntelaar, but I think we'll end up with Diego Forlan, who is quality, although not the 25 goal-a-season man we are craving. I feel that Pavlyuchenko or maybe Gudjohnson might be kept on. OUT - Hutton, O'Hara, JJ, Keane, Taarabt and maybe Bentley and Gio.
suarez looks good..not bad in goal either.
@Andres, I do a lot of business in Mexico and everyone I meet there tells me the same thing about Gio - great player, loves a drink. Apparently he is always in the Mexican version of "Hello" and such magazines pictured coming out of clubs with his highly gorgeous model girlfriend. Make of that what you will...
That georgie best fella was a bit of a lad for the nightclub too. Maybe that explains why he didn't do very well as a footballer.
I think the difference between Best and Dos Santos is one plays against highly conditioned athletes and the other played against other pissheads.
Plus Georgie might have been just a tad better than Gio.
Harry has already confirmed that Gio can t pass a night club as well as does with the ball. Harry has no reason to make that up. Gio needs to stop talking a good game and start delivering at club level otherwise he ll end up moving from club to club with each moving being a step down from the club before. Ultimately, ending up in some piss poor league like Holland, Turkey, Scotland, Dubai or Portugal. His agent is not doing him any favours. Stop getting him merchandising deals and get him focussed on his football.
this kit sponsor thing.... levy apparently wanting different sponsors .... I don't know what to make of it.... id hate it to be true...
How would that work with buying your shirt?
Can we get a plain one with no logo? Do we have to buy 9 or 10 if we want all home and away options?
Or will it come with disposable velcro/magnetic patches?
I doubt you could get one without a logo as most fans would opt for that leaving the sponsors with nothing. This alternative looks pretty impressive from Levy. From a sponsors perspective, they can get a cheaper deal, whilst targeting a more specific audience. The club are probably thinking that whilst each deal will be smaller, as a collective we may get nearer the figure we are aiming for in a market where sponsorship and advertising revenues have declined. From a fans perspective, I am sure supporters unions will complain about the club trying to rip fans off but this isn t like when UTD had different shirts, with the same sponsor, for different competitions. If I like one, I will just buy the one. What s wrong with having a choice. Like MK said, one is bound to be red free!
Knowing spurs the replica kits will probably have all 3 or 4 logos on it. I'm a great admirer of Levy but this looks like a bit of a panic measure to be honest. I think he can't get the money from one sponsor and is scratching around for an alternative. If this type of sponsorship was profitable, Chavski or Man USA would have done it by now.
However, necessity is the mother of invention and hopefully he will pull it off.
If we did have 12 different kits how many fans would buy them all? I'd think most of us wouldn't but I'm sure there are a few Yids out ther who would have to get them all. Even a few of us might buy one we really like the look of (i.e. a home kit with a blue logo) but also buy another one because it's our Champions League shirt. If...and it's a big IF, Levy does do this he'll be sure to create more on shirt sales than usual as well as the money from the sponsorship deals themselves!
WELL the close season was long was'nt it!!?
with due respect i am supprised how many of us realise cole is not a
very good option for us,in the centre where he cant get a game,on the left? in front of bale? he's a very expensive option for our b squad
(ie league cup, early fa and occaisional league (easier?!!) games.
Micah richards is rubbish, the heskey of the back four, all brawn no
brain no finness fine against heskey!! we need to improve wich means
trying to find quality,it will not be easy, one centre half, swop a striker, sell two middfielders get one new, wellcome back kranks, gio,
slowly introduce our new signing!,keep hutton and push on the new boys kyles danny et al, what could possibly go wrong????.
pasted this on other thread, but it has since been replaced...why oh why did we get rid so soon of the prince...what would his value be now if we have him still on our books...typical spurs...didnt pompey buy him outright?....ah well....felt sorry for ghana...they didnt deserve that! For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever BELIEVETH IN HIM, should NOT perish, but HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE!!John 3v16 (most important decision anyone can make - please be sure to make the right one this side of eternity!) For there is ONE mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus...God is not willing that any should perish but all should come to faith in Jesus Christ the Only saviour of the world...For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God...there is not one righteous - no not one. For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is Eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. COYS!!
on the joe cole rumour...where would he play..? whilst i would obvioulysy welcome him for champions league experience, i hope it wouldnt be at expense of bale...would we play bale left back then, as obviously joe wants football now..but that could be mouthwatering...benoit as backup...hey in Harry we have to believe he knows who he wants...we need a top top striker berbatov ilk...but better temperament with desire to play for US...and not just a stepping stone...coys!!
It was probably replaced due to your constant religious blathering you cock!
We could go 433?
Gomes
Kaboul Dawson King BAE
Cole Palacios Modric
Lennon Defoe Bale
433 with Lennon and Bale working the channels.... Made for Huddlestone! And can you really have 2 luxury players in a midfield 3 (Modric and Cole). Think your team needs a rethink Alan mate.
Kaboul Dawson King Bale
Palacios Modric Hudd
Lennon Cole
Defoe
A more suitable lone striker would need to be played and perhaps a more attacking RB to provide some width.
Spot on MK. Bale has to be used at left back and has to learn that position. He will be so dangerous coming from deep just like Cole has been.
Harry said in his interview that he wants bale at left back. that way gives him the space to run forward. Joe Cole says he wants to play in the middle. Harry also said we will have to change the formation for the champs league. That combined with the impending sponsor or sponsors, theres just so much that will happen in such a short space of time, i dont know if i can cope.
I'd favour cole on the left as well but I don't think we can attract him to the club if we move him out there. He's already said he wants to be used in the middle at his future club. Signing him on those terms means a reshuffle somewhere.
I personally think Bale is a LW. Not just because of his crossing ability but also because of eye for goal. He's not just poor at left back but he's dire. Putting him at LB, you'd probably end up with a Glenn Johnsen then Ashley Cole. Whereas at left wing, we've got the chance to have our own Ryan Giggs.
Bale dire at LB? I thought he had really improved. His main focus at Spurs has been his defensive work and he's been doing well, at very least he's no worse than BAE. As Craig said, Bale will be so much more dangerous coming from deep as he'll have no marker. The opposition wil have enough on their plate with (in my line-up)Defoe, Lennon and Cole, add to that Modric pushing forward. As Bale and the RB attack they'll have no-one to pick them up. Then, as the full backs come forward either Palacios or Hudd can sit back and make sure we're not caught short in defence.
spurs need a left back while bale learns how to defend, BAE was a disgrace in the world cup and is totally overrated. forget joe cole if he wants to start picking his position. i dont think he is worth the wages, chelsea left him go for a reason, prob because he taught he was too good and they showed him who was boss and rightly so
Dire is perhaps a little strong. He had improved but I am not sure he'd ever get any better than say Glenn Johnsen in that position. I could be wrong but he lacks Ashley Cole's aggression in the tackle and that's important in a defensive role. BAE is at least a little nasty (when he wants to be).
What we witnessed against UTD was that bale was not as dangerous for us coming from LB. It was just the one game of course but it was immediately off the back of two top notch displays against Chelsea and Arsenal where he played LW. He's a potential match winner from there and completely unplayable I think. When you put him left and lennon right and three men in midfield, I think it's almost impossible for a team to double up on our wing players as it would leave the midfield empty.
bale has to learn that a football pitch is no place for nice guys especially if you are a defender. the sooner spurs sell BAE the better. he will cost spurs in the big games. i think englands poor world cup has kept the transfer rumours quiet the papers too busy throwing shi@ at the team.
So Bale wasn't great getting forward when we played Utd....at Old Trafford! I'll be honest, that is not really a good game to judge him. Regardless, Harry has said on numourous occasions that he sees Bale as a LB and if he continues to improve defensivley then I believe he'll be as good as, if not better than, Gashley Cole. I apprecite Bale doesn't seem to show the same aggression that BAE does but BAE's aggresion often results in petulance and silly fouls conceeded. Strength and determination are Bales strong points and they will help him more than aggression...though I would be inclined to keep BAE as cover for the Welshman.
Agree Bale at LB. Think we will sign Bellamy and Joe Cole. Midfield of Thudd, Cole and Modric with Lennon, Defoe, Bellamy up front.
yiddo 1882 we will have a team of midgets god help us defending high balls into the box from frees. experienced left back and ship out BAE totally agree with mkyid about BAE giving away stupid fouls an getting caught ball watching
Raver...old fashion view of football.
But taking your theme we will have four defenders who are six foot plus and a CM over 6 foot.
And dont forget crouchy
its about todays style of football, strenght. power and pace. arseholes are typical example. they have won nothing for 5 years because wenger keeps stock piling small players. i actually question defoe's chances in the champs league, especially when you view his record against so called top 4 teams, so having him play a lone striker will never work. an i dont know who's gonna win the ball for your team as hudd is a gentle giant. Palacios to start if you have any chance.
No need to worry about what other teams do with the ball seeing as they wont see it much.
All teams need to score a certain amount of goals to finish up the top,and two 15-20 guys is preferable, defoe can be one, crouch needs to get his man city game every week, pav needs to get in the gym!,IF keane goes who knows (i hate bellamy) cole is waste of wages and NOT
reqd at spurs he has nothing we need.
when we are linked with a player we seem to get a little excited and
need to realise we are quite good and can be selective (dont panic mr manwaring) see post28!
i take bellamy over keane, at least bellamy will work his nuts off. in europe he be great against a back 4 that like time on the ball. spurs badly need a powerful striker that can take on defenders and score.
Bellamy is someone you can rely on to give his all. He's very talented and his attitude is something Harry can manage. He's not anymore moany than Keane. The trouble is his knee is almost as bad as King's, his wages are sky high, he wants to live in Cardiff and he's 31 (I think). Targets like this and Forlan are were I'd like to see Levy put his foot down. Harry thinks short term and Levy arguably thinks too long-term but signing players over 30 on big wages and transfer fees is too much in Harry's favour. Cole at 28 and for nothing should be a decent compromise.
For someone who has a knee injury Bellamy played a lot of matches last season. I would not put it into the same category as King. Plus, we could probably get him for around 6-8m.
Bellamy is not driven by money, so the wages may not be an issue.
have a alot of time for Bellamy since the article in the Times about him a few weeks ago. he has spent over 1m of his own money helping orphaned children in Africa by providing education and football establishments.
I cant remember cole ever scoring a goal! except one for england
years ago, a non scoring middfielder mmm?
bellamy? he moans at refs etc every 2 mins!! plays with a snarl on his ugly welsh mug and would pos unsettle bale with his welsh problems, good players dont need to be shitheads (i wont list them)
Bale in unplayable at times from LM but without a marker and loads of open grass in front of him, he can be even more dangerous coming onto the play - just look back to Jan, Feb, March of last season - Wigan away springs to mind.
Hearing Harrys intervioew on TalkSport he's thinking of changing formation slightly especially for away europeam game. Thats why Cole and Bellamy would really offer us more options. Bellamy on left of a 4 in midfield , on the left of a 3 up front, or down the middle. Cole could easily play as a 3rd man in a midfield 3, at the top end of a diamond behind a front one or two, or even from the left or right in a midfield 4 or front 3.
Micah Richards would offer us similar options at the back - all three of him, Charlie and Kaboul could just as easily fill in at centre back - Richards and Charlie are more suited to RB though.
I'm hearing alot of rumours that we are not a million miles off signing Edin Dzeko - we really do need a striker who can play on his own up front ...
All in all Richards, Cole, Bellamy and a marquee signing up top would do me nicely. Plus it looks like Pletikos is a done deal, he'll offer good experience and competition for the Octopus.
Cole would defenitly give us more options but Harry has intimated a possible change in formation for the European games, how would Harry accomodate him if we continue with a 4-4-2 in the league?
I think Harry will prob alter the 442 slightly anyway, especially againstvthr so called lesser sides. I can see Harry using the diamond in midfield with Cole playing in betrween the lines and being at the head of it. I can also see Cole playing from the left with the license to roam and play make as Luka has done effectively. I don't think Cole can play in the middle of a basic 442. I can really see us adapting from game to game. This season will all be about quality in numbers, options and variances in our play.
I definitely agree the bale's best position is Left Wing. He was our most dangerous player in our big games against the chavs and Ar5ena1.
If we want a change of formation I like the format Holland are playing tonight. Two holding midfielders allow creative 3 and full backs to supply lone striker.
Gomes
Charlie Dawson King BAE
Sandro Palacious
Lennon Modric Bale
A Forward.
I think Sandro is a way off starting, I'd go with Hudd for now.
I'd assume Harry is thinking along the same lines with regards to formation. It just looks like we'll just have to wait and see who A.Forward is going to be.
Do you reckon we've recieved any bids for Jenas yet?
HAHAHA. That van Bommel is a dirty cnt. bale is left midfield/winger, why try and make him change to accomodate who ? the boy is electric and has proved unplayable in our biggest league games.
Hope Harry doesn't read these posts...he'll actually think 'A Forward' is the name of a player!!
Just heard Harry on Talksport saying he's watched A. Forward a few times and he's a Top Top Player who he'd love at the club but he's contracted to another club at the moment so it won't happen.
Highbury yid re post 53 - Where are you hearing these rumours? Internet or someone who is ITK? I really hope we sign Dzeko he would be an awsome signing
I agree Alan about players having to earn the right to play in the first team by their performances in training but I sometimes feel Harry gets that balance wrong in that he needs to provide the player with an incentive (to feel he is doing well) by giving them the odd 10 minutes from the bench.
I always thought Harry would have got the best out of Pav earlier if he had given him a few 'last 10 mins' as an incentive to keep going in training rather than constantly leaving him on the bench even when other players were playing poorly. This resulted in him thinking 'what's the point'!!
It depends on how 'bad' Pav was in comparison to the rest of the squad. As a manager you don't want to appear as if you are rewarding sulky, moaners. It's not a culture Fergie or Mourniho would tolerate. It was great to see Harry get rid of Keane as soon as he started moaning and reinstate Pav as soon as he started working hard. The message for other players is then clear. Shut up, work hard and you'll get your chance eventually. Start mouthing off and you'll find yourself on loan at celtic.
My view of Pav is that he never wanted to leave Russia in the first place. His mum said as much, he's never bothered to learn the language. His previous manager has questionned his work ethic. Pav himself stated he tried hard in training for a week and was then back in the team. It's not rocket science. I hope the same for Gio.
Remember though Redknapp's selection of Pav was due to the fact that he had run out of options rather than a planned time to introduce him.
The same for Bale. He was outstanding on the left against Everton in the CC cup at the Lane, leading to Redknapp praising him and saying he balanced the midfield...then immediately dropped Bale for the away match against Arsenal!
I am not sure Bale would have got his chance under Redknapp if it was not for BAE's injury / Africa Cup.
Same again about Bentley who only got his chance against Fulham in the league because Kran had the 'flu.
Not too sure how much of this is 'cleverly planned' by Harry or he just had a little luck at the right time.
I agree that their introduction wasn't planned but it's rather difficult for any manager to plan two variables such as footballers and football matches so far in advance. We've seen other managers like Benitex and Ranieri try it but get criticised for it. What Harry did was to make sure that those who came in were able to make an impact straight away by having the right attitude. Bale he believed felt sorry for himself and his confidence was shot. What Harry did was left him alone when he got a knock in training and he also brought him on with 10 minutes to go when we were 5-0 up to get that record off his back. That's good management. With Pav, he didn't pander to his bitching and waiting for him to buck up his ideas and then used him. We weren't desperate for options. He just cleared the way for Pav to become an option. Again, good management I feel.
I agree about BAE's african nations cup exit was timely for Bale but that came at a time when BAE was playing very well. I seem to recall that were all shitting it that were going to have to put up with Bale while BAE was away. It would have been even poorer management for Harry to remove an in-form player for an inexperienced player desperately short of confidence. Harry worked on Bale's confidence, defensive game (which still needs more work) and mental strength and we were able to see a better Bale when he was given an opening. It's a combination of luck and planning.
Really!!? Alot of assumptions made there. A manager should have a fair idea when to introduce a player, it is part of his job and what he is paid to do.
As for the Bale record, Harry made a mistake with that. Bale had never started, and completed, a league match Spurs won. He had came on before when Spurs were winning and went on to win the game. That point was highlighted to Harry after he made the statement.
At the end of the day I don't care as long as Spurs win.
Personally, I have always rated Bale and would have preferred him in the team at LB earlier as I thought he had more to offer than BAE in the long term.
After Bale's impressive performance in the League cup against Everton when he played LM I thought Harry may have played him there a few times before the BAE injury, even if it was off the bench.
Never understood supporters concerns over Bale. His form at S'ton and when he first joined us before the injuries showed what a quality player he is going to be. It was always just a matter of time.
It was mentioned that Bale wasn't right mentally before he got in to the team. He was very low, probably due to playing in a poor Spurs team under Ramos. I do remember Harry saying how, in training, Bale would go over and say down waiting for someone to come to him (be it a physio or whoever), Harry said he needed to toughen up and told the physios to leave him when he was on the floor. So Bale picked himself up (literally) and started to fight his way in to the team. I say it was a good move because we've now got a stronger lad who is prepared to battle...even if we had to wait a while for it.
Bale has always played like he does now for wales,i am one of the sads
who watch those games! southampton rarely had good oppo's so not much
value then.sad to say H seems to have a history of favorites,in or out
never rewarding promising guys often enough, more carrot less stick would be my advice to our glorious leader.
We have a good squad and achieved what we expected (or hoped) to this
season,i had less faith than some, remembering all the posts 70% saying we would do it,i thought we could but had have less faith than
some in harry,
he is good 'sun mirror sport, p.r gold, but lacks gravitas with all due respect the 'old boys'power etc is dying and the continental chess
game is un stoppable, have gio taarabt parrot etc been given a real fair chance, not from where i stand.
ps keane on loan again? we must sell an asset not give it away,8 mil
or so to be had.
Mart, I appreciate you don't believe Gio, Taarabt and Parret haven't been given a fair chance but lets look at it.
Dos Santos worked hard and got a start last season then got injured in the first half, but for the most part he is a piss head who can't be arsed to turn up to training. You suggesting we drop a lad who does bother to turn up to accomodate him? What message does this send out to the other lads?
Tarrabt has he never wants to play for Spurs, it appears previous regimes seem to have pissed him off no end.
Parret. Who do you drop, Hudd or Modric?
There will be plenty of opportunity for the likes of Parret, Bostock and Rose next season in the Carling Cup.
As for Keane...we can't sell what we haven't had a bid for!
You dont drop people you play them for 20 mins and league cup etc
you dont let any player fail unless its a last resort, krauts etc have 20 year olds in the national side, are they that bad they cant last 20 mins or so?
ANYWAY, CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN FOOTBALL TO LAWRENSON!!! 70 MINS OF SHITE
SHOTS AT 11 TO 2 AND HE STILL CANT READ THE GAME!!!, SPAIN BY A MILE
HOOOO BLOOOMIN RAAAY,
BIGMART....I did like Lawrensons comment about the fan who ran onto the pitch last night....."he's been drinking on an empty head"!
I thought it was quite funny.
Gio was or is a piss head and had his parents turn up at the club to say sorry, bostock got sent home from which ever lower league club because his attitude stank. Taarabt got loaned out because he needs to play with other team mates rather than just himself and has then said he doesnt want to come back. These should be given a go? Have a word
According to Clive Allen GDS was working his socks off last season and deserved to be given a chance. His off the field activities were the season before.
Brentford said there was no problem with Bostock's attitude and the players father went on Talksport to defend his son and had a meeting with Redknapp over the manager's comments.
Tarrabt was frozen out despite the promises made to him by the club and now feels his future is away from Spurs.
Whereas the players may not be completely innocent, the manager(s) still have to take some responsibility.
As a club we hardly ever give young players a go. Look at Everton, there talented young players are not loaned out. They train with the first team and gain 10 - 20 minutes off the bench, Premiership experience.
Gio hasnt stopped his off the field antics, but has been told to buckle down and work. Bostock had problems with attitude after he failed to secure a first team place at Brentford. And Tarrabt just can't learn to be a team player. Even QPR said they are trying to work on him but its best just to let him get on with it. BUT the whole idea was these players were meant to go and play competative football week in week out and impress. I dont think Harry has ever said they dont have the potential, just they arent ready yet? Who are we to disagree with that?
So we shouldn't believe Brentford when they say that they never had any problems with Bostock's attitude, or Clive Allen what he said about GDS?
I m not say that am I. Is it just a made up rumour then that Gio was turned by the night life, or that Harry says he started turning up to training late on Mondays with upset stomachs.???? He may have improved yes, he may have a different attitude NOW, but that doesn t warrant he walks straight into the first team. Harry said if he buckles down he will get his chance. It s the same with young rose! Something happened to Bostock, that cant be deined, wether the club say he was ok or not. He went from doing very well to doing nothing, which left Harry and his coachs scratching their heads to why. The lad has promise for club and nation but he has to work at it and work hard
GDS may have worked his socks off last season...and he was given a start, unfortunately he got injured in the first 25 minutes, he then went out on the piss with his old mates at Barcelona as he often does which resulted in his parents appologising to Harry for their sons attitude.
Harry is well known for giving the younger players a chance but only when they can prove they deserve it...and rightfully so. Harry wants professionalism (hence his love for the Croats). Is it too much to ask that these kids, who get paid thousands of pounds, actually turn up to training, do as they are told and behave properly? It's an honour and a privilege to be a professional footballer at a premier league club and these lads need to respect that. Swanning around half pissed in sports cars, not turning up to training, thinking they are Billy big bollox just because they have some skills isn't the way to break in to a team, and it isn't the way to become a better footballer.
If/when these kids sort their attitudes out, then they can get 10 - 20 minutes off the bench and gain some Premiership experience but, as I said, they need to earn their chances.
you can put it so much more elagantly than me MKYID. Its something I like harry for. It dont matter who you are or what reputation you have, you have to put the work in to get a chance. Thats why he has managed not only bring some great youngsters through but got older players performing when many clubs had written them off.
It's called managing. If a player is not pulling his weight then the manager has to find a way to resolve and bring the best out of them...not just write them off.
As for 'arry giving youngsters a chance, he only did that at West Ham and that was because they had no money. At all the other clubs he has always gone for experience. Very rarely does he bring through a young player.
Where is set in stone that Harry has wriiten them off, Both Gio and Bostock have been told to prove their worth, and Harry has also stated that Gio if he trains well has a good chance of being a top player for us this coming season. Bostock is young and needs more experince, Harry wants him to go on loan a gain that and prove at the same time he is ready. Tarby however just wants to leave, that being the case we dont need him! Also Harry can onlky bring through the youngsters if they are there, he isnt a magician! Thats why at us he will because there are some very promising youngsters
Autonomy the new PL sponsor.
Still looking for cup sponsors.
Trust Levy to squeeze every last cent possible out of it.
Autonomy have red in their logo. And rumour is Santander to be Cup sponsors - they are VERY red indeed. Who's gonna be the first freak to moan about having red on our shirts...Idiots
10m a year for just PL sponsorship. Brilliant. Levy does it again.
Apparently M Richards deal is done if you believe SC...
Red or not 10mill for PL alone is a result for sure. Be interesting to know if one or the other is going to get naming rights for the new stadium?
If the 10m figure is true, Levy should be favourite for employee of the month.
GM I think this deal has come to early for the naming rights. The stadium appears to be at least 2 years away so I think the next will target that. However, we may see from this deal that there is more to be gained from having multiple sponsors. I believe mansion were on 10m a year (pre-recession and on the rebound to missing out on UTD) so to get the same again for just PL is amazing.
Yiddo, I appreciate Harry s job is to motivate players but also part of management is knowing when to give up and focus on those who want to be developed. Sacking people happens in every industry. If Harry failed to motivate (or bring out the best) in the majority of players then I agree it is a failing of his. However, when it is just a few players then I personally can accept that loss. It s unrealistic to expect a manager to positively affect a whole squad, especially those he didn t buy.
Regarding the issue of youngsters, I don t think this is a problem of just Tottenham football club but premier league wide. I have colleagues at work who support Villa, UTD and Arsenal and they moan about the same thing. Every fan thinks they ve got the next crop of brilliant youngsters if only they got a chance. It s not always the case. You mention everton but they bring youngsters through because they are skint. David Moyes doesn t do it through choice. Many of their youngsters make a handful of impactful appearances then disappear. Vaughan, Anichebi, Gosling or cadamatri (can t spell it) all dropped off. Seamus Coleman rarely played after his cameo against us. A little like we saw with Marney and Ziegler etc. The list goes on. Villa and Liverpool win youth competitions all the time but rarely see youngsters come through. Indeed O Neil was using Bale as a example to his youngsters.
Cole and Gio are chalk and cheese. First thing Gio needs to do is get his attitude sorted out and maybe then he would be fit to clean Joes boots. Hopefully Harry gets the player he wants and Cole is scoring for us next season.

Do the stories of boozing etc come from the same bloke who told us about gerrard recently?,i never ever see the evidence!, perhaps i dont read the right stuff,i did however see mexico play, and a young bloke called dos santos looked very good,i remember him as a bloke
who who played pre season at whl in a 4 0 defeat of a very good side
and then dissapeared, the manager was sacked later for being mental!.
when is champs league draw ?
No, the stories come from that big jowely chap who manages the team.
I dont think the shirt looks to shabby, and the logo doesnt look to out of place. Be interesting to see who the cup sponsor is, I heard or read people discussing Santandar and even Virgin? I know both are red, but both when linked with any sport usually brings success. Alan, I hope your right about the naming rights as Autonomy stadium doesnt sound that good, but then again, The Virgin Stadium doesnt either.
Champ League draw is Aug 6th.
MKyid...well if 'arry says its true then it must be! We all know good he is at the truth!!!
I hope keane doesnt return to the club, we dont want to loan him out but hope to sell him instead though this may just an opening gambit.Good, as long he isnt at Spurs next season I hope Gudjohnson returns and we can attract another decent striker.
You got to feel that the Gudjohnsen deal would mean Keane is not in Harry's plans. He moans when he doesn't play but he's not good enough to play. I'd rather Gudjohnsen. If we can get him back on loan and sell Keane for 10m then that represents good business.
Gudjohnson's form was nothing better than average last season. If we can get the old Keano back then keep him but if not sell him. Would rather Gudjohson's salary being used to sign a better and younger player
Yiddo1882, I appreciate Harry isn't always as upfront with information as we'd like but I sincerley doubt he's inclined to come out and start telling blatent lies about a player. In fact Harry is generally only economical with the truth when talking about possible signings (and allegedly when dealing with his tax return forms...allegedly)
I see that GDS has made the short list of 3 for the young player of the tournament.
He was a star for Mexico in the WC qualifiers (and the main reason they did qualify), when loaned to Ipswich he was outstanding receiving lavish praise from Roy Keane, did well at Galatasary and now the WC.
Plus, Barca did not want him to go.
But the only place he seems to have problems is at Tottenham!! Maybe there is more to this then meets the eye.
You would like to think so MKYid. But after what happened with Bostock at Brentford where Harry said the player had a poor attitude and yet Brentford denied this was the case. Then Bostock's father going on Talksport to refute the claims and met with Redknapp over this, you can never be quite sure.
Harry has his favourites and appears to be slow to change his mind. It's just too easy for him to say "he has a bad attitude" to justify not playing a player. Pav had to score four goals in about 20 minutes of actual playing time to get a game.
Perry Man...Think you've hit the nail on the head
If you think Gio is a top class player unfairly overlooked by Harry then why there is no bidding war going on for the lad? When he was available on loan he ended up at the mighty Ipswich Town. Not even a top flight club. Why do the managers of the world overlook him ?
And Pav was truly terrible for the last ten games of the season not able to hit a cows arse with a Banjo. So actually I think Harry should play him even less than he did because he is completely useless.
Why did the Brentford manager stop playing him and not renew his loan? How does such a talented footballer fail to impress at a lower level? It has to be his attitude or his ability...and apparently the abilty is there.
MkYid...The type of player Bostock is he is more suited to a higher level of football than the kick and rush of league one football. Not a case of attitude of ability, more a style of football.
Ted...All I have said is that the guy has undoubted ability, has shown it on the world stage and at the other clubs he has been at. The question is why is it only Spurs he is experiencing problems?
You cannot tell me that does not seem strange.
yiddo1882 >
Seems you have a real bee in your bonnet about Harry Redknapp.
Were you one of those posters slagging him off at every turn last year ?
Good job nobody paid any attention to them or we would not have achieved what we did with him as manager.
I can't imagine Harry making up the fact that the lad's parents came to see him to apologise for his attitude.
Regarding Bostock, I personally can't remember Brentford denying Harry's claims but do remember his dad coming out and defending his son. Not really a surprise to see his dad who also acts as his agent doing that. What is important to note is that he also said this
'John has played his part in helping Brentford get to where they are. He is a capable kid - well capable at Championship level - although he may not be ready for the Premier League.'
Not ready for the PL. Enough said really.
Ted...yawn! I merely pointed out it is strange that he has issues at Spurs but is successful when at other clubs and on international duty.
Aren't we to question Harry on this site then? It may shatter your love for him but he does f ck up now and again.
Perry Man I think that comment about Harry having favourites is a bit unfair. Firstly, it's always difficult to change a winning team. Secondly, the same was written last season when referring to Keane, Crouch, Corluka and Palacios. All of which found themselves out of the team and only one was based on injury. Pav got back in side when admitting himself that he tried harder in training for just a week. Hardly slow. Towards the end of the season Pav lost form and it would have been easy for Harry to dump sub him early but time and again he subbed Defoe. Supposedly another Harry favourite.
yiddo1882. If you want to ignore the question and go on a wind up then we are done. But the question I asked was quite simple - were you one of those posters slagging him off at every turn last year?
Ted...lol. You seem to be the one trying to move away from the point by changing the subject with an irrelevant question.
At least other posters answer and back it up with their opinion, which sometimes I agree and other times disagree. But there is a reasoned debate and I respect that.
You have just gone straight off the topic to move away from an area you are not happy with.
yiddo1882. Not off the topic at all. Anyone can see that just by looking at your posts on this page. You have been talking about Harry plenty on this page. So if someone asks you about something you have said about our manager then it is not OT. Anyway, time to log off.
Keane only got dumped after his "Golf" tour to Dublin. And Ted, I don't think there were many people who were on here slagging off Harry last season. Many would have loved to but the team did so well it was hard to.
I freely admit that Harry is not my cup of tea and when he came to spurs I was not very happy. But despite that, I have to take my hat off to him on the teams performance since he came and I can't think of many managers I'd rather have in charge of spurs at the moment.
He's done a great job fair play to him. Does that mean I won't be on here slagging him off if and when he messes up. No chance. But I'll also praise him when he does well. Probably.
Going back to post 109. I don't think it is about the style of football and I believe if a player is good enough for the prem he should be able to shine in the lower leagues. Fat Lampard did when on loan at Swansea, Carrick was a massive hit at Swindon...Bostock hit 2 on his debut for Brentford against Milwall, so where and how did it all go wrong?
I slagged off Harry last year when he thought the Dawson to Crouch long ball was the route to success. I really would like to know if he chose to play Pav or if he was advised to do so.
Gudjohnson has a better first touch than Keane can pass with one touch and moves well off the ball. Things to be fair, that I used to cheer Keane for doing. That was a while ago now,and Gudjohnson also has the sort of European experience we need.
The trouble is MKYid that and I'm only guessing but when he seald a move to us he asumed that he would walk straight into the team , or at least the bench. I reckon that going on loan by some is seen as going backward and see it at playing lower level than from where they have just signed from. BUT its about experince and showing the manager you can but the work in. There will be a big difference to the youngsters we buy and the ones that come through the youth system.
Post 119...So could the likes of Messi handle playing in a team that played kick and rush football? Would it make him a bad player if he couldn't?
The style of football played by a team can affect the performance of an individual player, no matter how good they are.
Personally, only certain players should be loaned out. It should be a judgement call. I am in favour of the most talented young players training with the first team squad and getting 10-20mins off the bench and playing in the CC Cup.
No disrespect to clubs like Brentford but training with the calibre of players like Modric and coaches of a higher standard has to be better for the players development.
I do think Redknapp's attitude to this is out of date. It should not apply to all players.
I also think the scrapping of the reserve team was wrong.
Blooding young players though the first team is definitely preferable to sending them on loan. Playing with experience players helps young players. You only have to look at Dawson when he played beside King compared to when he was partnered with Kaboul two seasons ago. That combination put Dawson and Kabouls developmen back a season and they are only getting over it now. It also led to fans calling for both to be sold so I think us fans have a big part to play. As i keep saying, if you want to blood youngsters you cannot crucify them when they make a mistake.
I'd expect Messi to see less of the ball but when he did get it I'd expect him to dazzle against poorer opposition.
Players need game time because it brings with it experiance. Week in, week out, against diferent opposition. One week you opposite number might be someone big and strong the following week someone smaller but faster but you learn how to play against these players, you learn how to adapt your game. Harry has said he'll put Bostock with the first team to train, (as there are no reserves) maybe Bostock can improve there, but you can't gain all you need to know just by training, no matter how good the coaches and other players are.
It applys with any career you can possibly think of, no employer will ever give you the top job because you've done the training...you need the experiance.
Spurs were the first team to pull out of the reserve league but since then Arsenal have followed suit and liverpool are considering doing the same.
I agree that certain players need should not be on loan at lower league clubs but I disagree that Bostock should not be one of them. Here's a kid who is full of skill and has probably been told he's going to make it big time since he was 8 (especially by his dad). Spending some time at brentford, toughing up physically and mentally with players who are fighting for their mortgage is what he perhaps needs. Spurs bought him before he had that chance. it's a vital part of development for a playmaker in our league. Evidently he didn't gain from this experience and that annoyed Harry.
Its simple you put the work in and you'll reap the rewards. Sometimes i just think young players just expect it given on a silver platter because they have a nice long pro contract. These players have to prove their worth before given a chance.
I think the fact that his dad did that for him says it all. There seems to be a trend here. Gio's parents come to Harry to apologise on his behalf, Bostock's dad criticises his son's manager on radio and Pav's mum does interviews in paper claiming his son never wanted to leave russia at the time he wasn't performing well.
Maybe next time my manager tells me to stop coming on this website during work, i'll get mum and dad to pay him a visit.
Its also the trend for these youngsters to have parents as agents, and its all about making the most amount of money in the shortest time possible. Dont get me wrong pots of cash would be most welcome. But most of us have to work hard to feed our familys and put a roof over our heads. At the age og 16, 17 , 18 they have no concept of real world, and i know if i had the biggest ego because everyone told me i was the next best thing since sliced bread and was earning multiples of thousands a week/month, i would not have been able to handle it at that age. Alot of these young players dont go through the growing up process everyone else does, no wonder they have the attitude they have and may go to explain whilst so many go off the rails in later life
I know agents need to protect their clients but a good agent, especially one of a young player should let the manager, manage his player. There's times when a manager will use the media and criticise a player to get a reaction. It's a last resort but some players need it. Pav is another one who needs it. You need to make him angry to play well. His previous manager used to dump him in the reserves and slap him. Different players react to different things. Harry tried it with Defoe when he stopped scoring, publically saying he needs to do more in games. It didn't work. Defoe is a pretty motivated player already. More often then not though, Harry gets it right. Otherwise we wouldn't have got 4th.
What is concerning me about Harry is his transfer targets this summer. Craig Bellamy and Forlan are both very good players (it indicates to me he's going 433 with and looking to fill the left hand side of the three up front) but my concern about these players is that they will come on high wages and with only 2 years left in them and then no re-sale value. It's not my momey of course but I would prefer signings of players over 30 to be avoided.
agree alan, but some times its experience signings that will push the team forward. if spurs get bellamy for 6m and sell keane for 6 m then that would be fine. i dont believe in paying anything over ten million for a 30 plus player, like you said its not are money but you would hate to see the club go into the red over poor signings. as for Bostock, he has done f all yet so he should learn to shut up an keep his head down and prove himself. as for his father being his agent, he should do his son a fav an get him a proper agent. as we all know a parent always things his kid is great, but in reality he could be johnny average.
I can sometimes understand a parent being involved in the kids representation, some agents can be unscrupulous and it's worth having a parent involved to ensure the interests of the child are kept. However, if it's one of those parents who believe his kid is the best in the world and can't keep a sense of realism about the situation, the kid is doomed to failure due to sky high expectation and bad career advice.
As for Harry's targets. I can see the logic in getting players who are a little past their prime but have the experience, plus Harry is a bit of an expert in this field. As long as we get right people and the balance is right we should be good. I can't see Levy sanctioning too many deals for such players though, as he likes to make a return on outlays. However I'm sure Harry will convince him that the return will come when we get the results.
In the case of Bostock, I think his dad has done him little favours since he became a professional. Be honest, would you advise your son to play join spurs at 17-18? I support spurs but I wouldn't want my son going to them at this stage of his career. Spurs have an awful record of bringing through young players. We are told he had UTD, Barca and Arsenal after him so why sign for us? Those clubs have a better record at bringing youngsters through despite being kore successful than us. Spurs have improved. Our new training ground apparently has excellent facilties for youth players, we have tim sherwood to bridge the gap (don't laugh at least it's someone) and we appear to have a manager who isn't struggling to keep his job. That said, this improvement has come a little late for bostock. He, IMO, is now a year or two behind in his development.
Good to Pav scoring, it's just a pity Jenas was still wearing the lilywhite.
well sydneystu at the moment
has the team we are playing in the CL been chosen. When is the first game.
Devonstu ..you get about fella.
yeah nobby doing some soccer coaching in Bronte Sydney. Trying to keep up with all the spurs news. At 55 i'm the oldest backpacker here.
What a great season that was..I'm looking forward to watching some of next season in Florida ( new lady on the firm )
Alan, come on, if its first team football, at 17 you arent going to walk in to MANUSA, Le Arse and Barca. If its just for football then you should pick us everyday, or even better stayed at his then present club, I know its may have been different when he first signed, but if i were bostock dad, i would be saying NOW "look son, you have a chance to play for one of the top managers now, just look at the likes of Carrick, Lampard, Rio, Cole. But if you want it you have to work at it" not just massaging his ego, and possibley living of his wages.
Here you go WorldwideStu, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010%E2%80%9311_UEFA_Champions_League Qualifying_rounds
Stu, Champion league draw 6th Aug.
It follows a familiar pattern, we are linked with a player and suddenly they are great!, people forget the facts (a fact is a thing that happened)not some rosey dream.
fact richards not good enough to be a man city regular the team that finished below us, a clumsy bully not european standard.
cole, good player! in middfield with mod hud lennon??? jesus we would
never get the ball back, who goes i know my choice!.
bellamy? disruptive as prev mentioned,no resale, bad for bale!.
hope harry doesent panic buy hope levy holds his nerve.
nice to see posibility off ressis getting a look in at bournmouth
as defoe said fri put an arm round the shoulder and say 'your a good player' does wonders!
Mart, Citeh don't need to look at developing youngsters when they can just spunk money on some foreign player. Richards has the attributes to be a top player, why not work with him, make him in to something good? Why be so quick to dismiss a young English player?
Bad news chaps... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11675_6255877,00.html
MK that's good news. We know JJ can be a great player on his day so if he works hard he could be a real asset. Gone are the days he gets in to the team regardless of form so I don't see this as a bad thing.
But what are the odds on rolling him out on a good day? (unless we're playing Ar5ena1). I suppose it's better than buying someone for the bench, better the devil you know and all that.
Although, assuming we sign Cole, is it worth having Jenas on the wage bill if we're looking at a 4-3-3 with the likes of Cole, Modric, Lennon, Hudd, Palacios, Sandro, Dos Santos, Gudjohnsen(?) all vying for a place, throw O'Hara and Tarrabt in the mix and the need to give the likes of Bostock and Parret a first team chance, I feel we're well stocked with players that I'd like to see ahead of Jenas.
I can only assume no-one wants Jenas..to be fair nor do I.
I think that Jenas is still worth a place. I actually think he is the kind of player that can florish under Rednapp, I think the reason we didnt see it last season is because of injuries. We know he can do it accasionally so I have faith that Harry can get the rest out of him. Plus, even when he isnt at his best he still has that drive and determination that can only be good for the team on a whole.
Jenas?? Drive and determination?!!?...I've heard it all now! Cancel his contract, that's the only way we will get rid of him. He's been here 5 years or so?...and what's he done? rather play with ten men.
In an ideal and realistic world... we could be seeing this team for next season... I think everyone will start going with 2 holding midfielders after wtching teams like spain, brazil and holland... Even Man City were using it last season.
Gomes
Richards King Woodgate Bale
Palacios Sandro
Modric
Lennon Forlan Cole
Post 148...'rather play with 10 men'...We do when Jenas is in the team!!
Correction - 9 Men!
Spezza, ideal maybe but hardly a realistic world with King and Woodgate in your team. Also, I'd play Hudd as one of those defencive mids.
Ideal - as in if everyone is fit.. Realistic - as in transfers we could attract
second XI..
Cudicini
Kaboul Dawson Bassong Ekotto
Hudd Livermore(or Bostock)
Krancjar(or Bentley)
Gio Defoe Taraabt
I like Richards. I think the mistake made there is that, because of his size, he was considered a centre back. He worse than Titus Bramble as CB but as an RB he can be a top player. I wouldn't pay anymore than 8-10m for him though. We have a lot of RBs already and if money is tight we should be considering other options.
I rate Forlan really, really highly. He's looked top class from the start of the competition. He, IMO, is twice the player Saurez is at the moment and better than anything we have but he's 31. If we could get him for 12m then great but I wouldn't want to be paying more for someone with 2 years left in the tank.
Cole - has already mentioned he wants to play through the middle and start more often than not, even though logically he should play LM. For those reasons, I am less bothered about signing him. Good if we do, no lost sleep if we dont.
I also wouldn't want to see Sandro played till Xmas at the earliest. He needs a break first and foremost and in time should be looking to settle on everything outside the game (home, language, food etc). I watched a few videos of him on youtube and the difference between the pace of the Brazilian game to ours is crazy. It's like watching it in slow motion. Positives are that he's physically ready and very level headed (it seems).
Considering we've been linked with about 1,001 players since the season finished and we have PSB or Iceman (potentially) in ranks both wrong side of 30 - I'm very surprised nobody has linked us with Klose.
He (IMO) would be worth a punt for a year or 2. Has CL experience, proven goalscorer, can hold the ball up and link play very well.
He had a poor season last year but he is as good (if not better) than what we have and considering the sensible wages in the Bundesliga, must be a cheaper option?
Peronally I don't rate Forlan, much like Kanoute he has impressed in a slower league but found it difficult to translate his abiities to the prem. Klose is a good shout though, as you say Yidden, he has the experiance and would suit our current squad well.
