Harry now to blame for ruining our love lives

by Alan the librarian

Bolton vs. Tottenham

Reviewing some of the comments from spurs fans following the defeat to Wolves I wouldn't be surprised if many of you blame Harry when your partner questions the lack of romance on show this valentines day. Afterall, it's thanks to Harry we find ourselves in the latter stages of the FA Cup and the nuisance of a game on a day, which for some of us, is the only time we enter a flower shop.

No one can deny that Harry's bizzare team selection cost us the game on Wednesday but it was A GAME. One game in a season which so far sees us sitting 6th, right on course to meet pre-season objectives I believe.

Come on spurs fans, surely we possess a little more perspective than to question a manager after such a blip. Harry wasn't everyone's choice as manager but now is not the time for 'I told you so's'. We still have much to play for and our support is needed. In fairness, we never fail.

On to the game. There's no doubting that it has taken on more importance with us fans after Harry seemingly priortised it ahead of the Wolves fixture. He's ugly enough and experienced enough to accept that and in some ways we'll see how much the players want him around as there's nothing like a cup defeat to put him under real pressure. Don't expect Pav to play then!

Going to Bolton has never been an easy game for us. This is my no means a garantueed passage into the next round. Harry wouldn't have rested players for it if he didn't feel that way himself. I expect to see a full strength team including Corluka, King and Palacios all in the starting XI with Crouch partnering Defoe.

Our cause will be aided by Bolton having to play without the excellent Gary Cahill and Ivan Klasnic. Former spur Sean Davis is also absent. Expect their biggest threats coming via the brawn of Kevin Davies and the guile of Taylor and Lee. Our midfielders will need to do a better job of tracking midfield runners as Tamir Cohen has shown an eye for goal on a number of ocassions.

Owen Coyle almost embarrassed us last year in the cup with Burnley but we went through then and I think we'll do so again (maybe with the aid of a replay).

COYS!!!

P.S any spurs fans who have tips on managing to watch the game this Sunday whilst keeping the missus on side, your comments are especially welcome.

I must admit I like Harry. I just can't for the life of me get his some of his selections. Jenas is sh--te, Gudjonssen was clearly off the pace, the ground conditions were more suited to a Crouch/Defoe partnership. We need pace, Bale was the only one that seemed to get behind them. Lennon we need you now?. Bolton on Sunday, we need to get our act to-gether.

5| mdb (62.60.98.133) 2010-02-12 12:27:42

Bolton (cup) and Wigan (League) are two games we have to win. The league game speaks for itself. we need the points. The cup game because we need something goodto come out of resting players in the Wolves game!

You can't really blame Harry for this, you have to blame the people who drew the balls out the hat. If we'd had this fixture in the last round i'm sure there wouldn't be this issue on Valentines Day. That said, anyone on here that is with a girl that doesn't understand Spurs will generally always come first shouldn't be with that girl anyway.

9| Darbinho (80.176.126.242) 2010-02-12 12:45:52

I am cooking the missus lunch then taking her down the pub with me to watch the match. Job done.

10| Howerdjay (86.161.203.163) 2010-02-12 12:47:28

I was never certain about Harry but now after last week's result to Wolves and the fact that he's got his court case on his mind more than his team selection he's got to get his finger out or ship out!! And I for one don't mind which but he needs to do it pronto

11| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 12:47:44

I agree mdb, If you would asked me which I'd prefer 3 points against wolves or a cup win (not that I feel Harry needed to make such a distinction) I would have taken 3 points and same applies for Wigan or Bolton. I am sure most fans would have understood if he had done the reserve. We are not mid-table and as much winning something should mean everything, I can't help but think with the stadium sponsorship and shirt deals that a champions league is especially important this year as it would be a real catalyst for us. It's sad to put finance over sport but we've seen that without finance you can't really suceed in football.

Where's my money?

13| Craig Grant (192.158.34.20) 2010-02-12 12:49:51

I'd have taken the cup win personally. Theres no reason we couldn't have played for both though.

14| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 12:52:12

Granty, I think my missus is slowly getting that. It's painful at times for her but I try and explain tottenham came before her and if she not careful we'll be saying after her as well.

This year I will be spending Valentines with my first love!

15| Ricky (217.33.119.112) 2010-02-12 12:53:57

When you look back 10-15 years from now and you're telling your son/nephew/whoever about the 09-10 season, would you rather say "We won the cup that year" or "we finished 4th that year"?
No-ones club history documents the times they finished 4th, it documents what trophies they have won.
We aren't good enough to win the league yet, so until we are we need to go for the cup, and when we are good enough, the focus can change to the league.

16| harry hater (83.244.184.132) 2010-02-12 12:56:36

Harry is a stupid c you next tuesday!

17| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 13:00:41

I just find it odd he gambled against leeds both home and away playing weakened sides and then he prioritises the cup now. Maybe he thinks 4th is not a possibility. I don't know. The decision still baffles me.

18| Craig Grant (192.158.34.20) 2010-02-12 13:05:46

Playing a Div 1 side it wasn't really a gamble (well it shouldn't have been) doing it against a Prem team though is just downright bad management. He's been in the game long enough to know you can't get away with that and he's also seen them beat our strongest team in our own back yard. Harry fcuked up in the Wolves game just like he has when he's tried to be clever in a few other games. The sooner he realises he's not clever and just sticks his best eleven out every week the better. However, if the long ball stuff to Crouch which is becoming Plan A more and more at the moment continues then the sooner he's locked up the better.

19| Craig Grant (192.158.34.21) 2010-02-12 13:15:38

"Roman Pavlyuchenko is getting fit now, so there is a chance we'll see a lot more of him between now and the end of the season."

I hope so Harry !

20| EGA2dark (77.44.51.42) 2010-02-12 13:16:38

The squad we have should be good enough to play and compete in both games. We should not have to make a choice. If Harry continues to send some of our best talent out on loan, then bring in less than adequate replacements, then losing at wolves is the future for us forget top four and FA cups.

I had doubts about Harry from the beginning, the disgraceful way he treat Darren Bent, and now Robbie Keane have compounded my feeling.

If now is not the time to question Harry, When is???

21| mdb (62.60.98.133) 2010-02-12 13:20:42

agree. I don't believe any fan wants to see a long ball as planA.
And to be honest I don't think Crouch wants the ball up in the air all the time. the lad has some tlented feet if we ever fecking pass to them!

just on the resting players. I would understad if one of the teams to play warranted a rested player. but Wovles followed by Bolton ffs. do me a favour. our 1stX1 should be strolling around against those two teams. if we had Wolves followed by Chavski or Arse then I might have considered some resting as acceptable. but Bolton...

Lets be Brazil for a change. Best 11 always plays. end of.
...okay thats a bit off track but you (hopefully) know what I mean.

22| mdb (62.60.98.133) 2010-02-12 13:25:11

CG if Pav is available he might get a shot against Wigan. I doubt Harry will play him in the cup as it appears to be Harry's main focus. In either case he will be on as a sub.

Pav Gudjohnsen anyone???

23| mdb (62.60.98.133) 2010-02-12 13:26:05

Pav and Gudjohnsen anyone??
will they make a decent parntership??

24| Craig Grant (192.158.34.21) 2010-02-12 13:31:16

I firmly believe Pav is the most talented all round striker we have at the club. If Harry could get him working hard and wanting to play for us again we'd have a great player on our hands. For whatever reason though Harry doesn't like him and so he wont really get a chance. Just like he doesn't like Bentley so as soon as he has to give him a go, and he plays some decent games, Harry decides to tell him he thinks he's sh1t and shouldn't really still be at the club. Harry needs to let go of whatever personal feelings he has for players and just pick our best team.

25| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 13:45:30

The main reason why Pav, Bent and Keane fail/ed play and Crouch suceeds is that he is the best partner for Defoe as far as Harry's concerned (and me). Bent is similar but not as good and Pav is another goal hanger but again not as good (probably better finisher but lacks pace and strength). Keane needs someone to play off not somneone to play for so he and Defoe just stopped passing to each other. Crouch is only one so far that tolerates playing second fiddle to Defoe. Defoe has got to be the most frustrating striker to play with. The biggest shock against leeds at home was he finished the one-two for Pav to score. He never does that which is why he's playing for us instead of UTD etc. Personally I think you need and can afford one player like him in your team. Without Defoe we'd never look like scoring! It remains to be seen if Gudjohnsen can partner with him and I can see that working if Eidur plays somewhere near his best.

26| Ricky (217.33.119.112) 2010-02-12 13:52:46

That goal that Pav scored against Leeds was World-Class, I've never really thought he was very good to be honest, but that link-up and finish was as natural as it gets.

27| Craig Grant (192.158.34.21) 2010-02-12 13:53:36

How the fcuk have we allowed Kyle Walker to be cup tied?

28| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 14:08:13

mbd, I don't think there's any pace in that partnership. I wouldn't contemplate leaving Defoe out. What sets him aside from Pav is desire/hunger. Pav is a gifted player but he's not applying himself for Harry. It's up to you as a fan to decide what camp you sit in but I don't blame Harry for it. He didn't want to leave Russia in the first place

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/tottenham/3327786/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-did-not-want-to-leave-Russia-for-Tottenham-says-his-mum-Football.html

And his previous manager commented on his lack of desire in games. My view is that Harry doesn't seem someone particularly hard to get on with and like all managers has preferences in what he feels makes the best team. There's nothing underhand about it. You can only play XI of them at a time. You do live and die your decisions and so far in my opinion he has altered the fortunes of a number of spurs players for the good (Hudd, Modric, Gomes, Lennon etc) and the team in general are better than they have been for a long time.

29| mdb (62.60.98.133) 2010-02-12 14:08:40

CG....just because its the sort of thing we do!

30| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 14:16:43

Granty, I read that article in the Mail about Bentley and if you read it the title doesn't match his comments. It's typical Daily Mail crap to be honest.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1250173/Tottenham-boss-Harry-Redknapp-dampens-high-spirits-David-Bentley.html?ITO 1490

31| Aspur (86.17.125.97) 2010-02-12 14:17:03

It's not just 1 game....where you been?? If Harry dont play Pav this Sunday it's because he's crapping himself that there is another player out there that can prove him wrong (just like Bentley is!)and show Harry has lost it!
Why is he sticking with Jenas? Probably a better S than his missus.

32| mdb (62.60.98.133) 2010-02-12 14:22:42

Alan I would agree that Defoe should start. And that Crouch is best suited to play alongside him. But when we play against a team that sits back COULD we play Pav Gudjohnsen together??

Crouch gets found out as we try and play the high ball to him. One defender goes with Crouch and the other defenders play the flick-on. When the ball does get to Defoe he sometime plays for himself. These two things together mean we don't score goals.

I would start with Crouch and then bring on Gudjohnsen - to hopefully play throigh the defence. Pav and/or Defoe would benefit IMO

33| Hammertime (78.147.150.8) 2010-02-12 14:43:15

Does twitchy bagpuss have anything to say about spurs these days??? Just watched a press conference and he had an opinion on everything apart from spurs. The guy is a total tosser.

34| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 14:43:46

In the Villa game I thought we had great variability to our play and that was the case against Birmingham too and Fulham before that. I agree it shouldn't be plan A but it wasn't in the games I have listed above and I can name more. Crouch's height is one dimension we shouldn't be too prudish to accept using at times. It's not Crouch's biggest strength though. As mentioned he supports Defoe and all the other munchkins around him. We have also only conceeded 7 goals in the prem from corners. So defensively we look stronger too. Once more the ball remains further up field with him in the team. We have dominated so many games this year, possession and shots for have all been massively in our favour. When crouch isn't in the team the ball tends to come back a lot more often because we miss the target man. I can see Gudjohnsen doing that but he'll need time. Pav, in my opinion, is more a reserve for Defoe, and Gudjohnsen for Crouch.

35| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 14:59:13

mdb, I would argue that the reason we don't score goals because we don't have many goals in our midfield. Hudd and Palacios are likely to get you about 4-5 between them and Modric and Lennon about 4-5 apiece. Generally one of Crouch or Defoe score in a spurs game this season. As much as I see Hudd's improvement and the value in the team, he needs to add goals to his game as those Modric.

36| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-12 15:04:09

if we work very hard we might bring it back to the lane. We deperately need more variation in our play, and Im not just talking about the big fella who can be used far better than he is now.
Maybe we are choking, even so, we can still work harder try harder defend more tightly and put a foot in. There are no excuses for not doing that.

37| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-12 15:41:57

We seriously need to get another midfielder. When Palacios is injured/rested/suspended we have to call on JJ. People keep bangiing on about our squad depth and competing for both cup and league but we've had 3 games in a week. Wilson can't do that, and the following week, and the next, he's had a long season already, if he plays every game he'll be totally fcuked by mid march. So who do we use? Modric is still lacking in confidence, Kranjcar and Hudd would be too slow...I still believe O'Hara being at Pompey is doing them more favors than it's doing us.

38| COME ON YOU SPURS (212.159.24.238) 2010-02-12 16:04:28

We can t add to the squad until summer so we have to make do. Might aswell give Corluka a run as DM.

39| COME ON YOU SPURS (212.159.24.238) 2010-02-12 16:05:51

Harry could always go and bring Boateng back in the summer.

40| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-12 16:28:14

"Aaron's running again, working hard with the fitness coaches but he's not ready to play yet," said Harry. "Hopefully it won't be too long. If you saw him run this morning, he was like Linford Christie! He's not ready to join in training yet but in terms of running, he's flying."

Who needs a DM when you have Lennon!

41| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-12 18:23:46

we do !

42| davy41 (92.17.243.64) 2010-02-12 21:36:45

The problem is we the fans pay these overpaid twats to play and manage and without our support each week they are nothing.Arry owes it to us as much as the club to pick his best team.By playing that team against Wolves (well played Wolves) Arry more or less said he has given up on the 4th spot and is playing for the cup which is very worrying from a man getting paid so much and who is supposed to be the best in the business at getting the best out of players.

43| Knowitall (195.137.70.207) 2010-02-13 00:30:38

Face up to it - Harry's reached his peak getting us to where we are now. His crowning triumph was winning the FA Cup with Pompey, and he vision is achieving that again with us (seemingly with the same group of players!). Top 4 ? Champions League ? Forget them with Harry. He's out of his depth at that level and doesn't know how to handle the pressure.

44| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-13 09:00:13

We do not need a defensive midfielder we need a central midfielder, albeit a combative one. A DM sits back and protect the defence, we need one who'll play the entire midfield and hopefully get forward and score a few goals....somethig our current midfield doesn't do enough of.

45| wert (81.111.219.117) 2010-02-13 10:04:42

We need a manager that coaches from the touchline not someone that sits there and sulks! get up you lazy fuuuucking cuuuuuunt. Defoe for me is the biggest sulk in our team if he cant play with crouch he dosent play?? we ending up flogging him because he couldnt partner any of the other strikers at the time.
As for the midfield we need a fuuucking footballer not huddlestone, jenas or any other permitation from the shiit we have the one position old bagpuss should have dealt with in the last window.

46| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-13 10:50:21

MK Yid I m not sure about that Wilson looks very capable of going forward what prevents him doing more of it is covering so much of the park because we dont know which Thud will turn up, we know exactly which Jenas will turn up, bar 4 games a season.Wilson has the ability to be a CM who goes forward which would be a damn site easier if he could trust those behind him.

47| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-13 11:00:02

Thats my point Nobby, Wilson isn't a DM he's a CM but he's a CM who can tackle...we need another in a similer mould.
In fairness to Harry and Levy, if such a midfielder wasn't available during the last window then thats why we didn't get one. However I don't see how we could not have picked up someone, even on loan, who is better then JJ...I mean, it's not hard to be better then JJ is it?!

48| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-13 11:27:02

Another Wilson would be excellent, i was hoping Wilson could give the club a few tips on other Honduran(?) players in his mould.
and....no it isnt.

49| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 12:04:11

We need a back up to Palacios which I think was supposed to be Sandro but Inter did what all Brazilian clubs do and complicated the deal. Levy is difficult enough so if that ever happens it'll be a miracle. What annoyed me is that when that didn't materalise we didn't hold on to O'Hara. He played well again for Pompey against Sunderland and he's infinitely a more effective player than Jenas who flatters to decieve. What got my back up even more is that we probably used O'Hara to grease the kaboul wheels and having got Kaboul in do not try him as DM but at RB! I agree with you MK that we do not need a DM in a 4-4-2 but when Palacios is out we do not have a player in the squad capable of doing both and in Jenas we are seemingly prioritising the attacking option. I think that's what jenas is anyway!

50| nobby (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-13 12:14:41

what we need is another player who can assume DM responsibilties as easily as Wilson. This would allow one or the other to play further up the park.No one seen Wilson playing deep ?
I have just read that we have only won 3 times in 23 visits Up Norh. That is a shocking stat ,Howard Webb aside.

51| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 12:30:17

This season we have been improving on that. We've turned defeats into draws and in general I have not spent most of the game tearing my hair out. The Wolves game was a disaster. Thankfully though it's easily rectified. Play our best XI. It may not win all the time but all this talk that we are a bad team is knee-jerk stuff. We lost some respect against Wolves but in general we are feared and respected team because we are a good one. When Lennon comes back in particular we are very dangerous. No one has missed Lennon more than Defoe. He's often on the end of Lennon's cut backs to smash them in and on the break he's the only one quick enough to keep up with Lennon. Our midfield is Palacios, Lennon, Modric and Hudd. Not bad! Just fcuking play em Harry!

52| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-13 12:38:57

I thinkk it was the second goal against Leeds when Defoe came screaming in and attacked the ball on the ground at the far post. This was off a Bentley ball. Both players can adapt, just need to push on and work hard and the whole team needs to close down the opposition.

53| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 12:47:00

I agree. I think the arm/wrist injury has affected Defoe. All that gym work went out the window really. I know he gets criticism because when he doesn't score he looks useless but I am a huge fan of his. We have so many players who look for neat little one-twos but when Defoe gets whack! Frustrating at times but for me it's why I go to games. The way he hit it against Pompey last year at home and against Hull and West ham this year is like anger management for me!

54| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 12:48:43

He what I call a striker because he can strike a football unlike someone Perry Man won't let me mention!

55| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 12:55:41

Actually I think he dislocated his fingers? Against Stoke? What ever it was probably made it impossible for him to lift anything.

56| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-13 12:58:28

I think Defoe should just swap places with Crouch, that way he'd be on for Bales cut-backs....something no-one currently does.

57| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 13:08:21

He probably doesn't feel as comfortable hitting on his left but something worth working on. Bale looks like he's in for extended run. Can you imagine a team having to contend with Lennon on the right and the then Bale on the left!

58| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 13:43:05

Anyone who fancies a laugh can listen to the welsh commentary of the chelsea vs Cardiff game on sky 134

59| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-13 14:20:24

Anyone who wants a cry can watch O'Hara leading Pompey to victory over Southampton. it is hard not to believe Redknapp does not see himself as bigger than our club.

60| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 14:35:14

I am watching it too Nobby, box to box he's been excellent. Apparently he was very good against Sunderland as well. In fairness he demanded to play first team football week in week out. I know's playing very well but as good as Hudd and Palacios together I don't know. Definitely better than Jenas but it's not about that for Jamie. He wants to be first choice so you have to ask whether he's better than Hudd. In my opinion, no.

61| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-13 14:58:41

If thats true it is a shame. Better than Hudd depends which one turns up. Rumour has it that O'Hara is the one who threw the ball at Redknapp during the now infamous interview.Who knows, but he looks good when he plays.

62| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-13 15:08:04

I believe when O'Hara went he thought he was further down the pecking order, JJ's recent performances suggest O'Hara would be called upon should Hudd or Palacios not be able to play. I apprecitate he wants first team football but could he not be happy with at least a guaranteed place on the bench? Maybe it's not ideal but lots of players have to spend some time on the bench, there is only 2 in front of him for 2 positions and it's better than the reserves. The more I think about this situation the less it makes sence. Regardless of who we think can play CM, Harry has openly said he only has 3 CM's...so why let him go on loan? ...anyone heard the rumour he's had a row with Defoe?

63| Alan (87.74.138.173) 2010-02-13 15:25:36

I liken him to Ji Sung Park in the sense that he is not the most gifted player but football is a team game and you need balance. However, unlike Park he wants to play first team football every week. He did a phone interview on SSN when he re-signed by Pompey and he said Harry asked him to stay but he wanted garantueed first team football. Harry mentioned it himself that having a big squad causes such problems. I agree he wasn't far off a first team. I would argue he's always been our 12th man. In most games he was the first sub we brought on (that time ahead of Hudd) but like he said he wants to play from the start. Hudd and Palacios together have been very good. Need more goals but it's positive.

All these rumours of Harry having rifts with people is probably from fans wanting to justify hating Harry. Even that video seems to old to be Jamie O'Hara throwing it? Can't remember but Harry didn't look as saggy!

64| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-13 16:27:26

I thought that video was from his time at Pompey.
I appreciate I don't know O'Hara but he never seemed to be the kind of guy who'd demand 1st team football and he must appreciate he'll never be offered a guarantee like that at a top club....hell he'd be lucky to get a guarantee like that from any club, it's not like he's world class.

65| Leeds Yid (94.192.33.119) 2010-02-13 19:18:05

I like O'Hara, and I think he could be a good asset, especially against teams like Stoke, Bolton and Wolves! I think he'll be back at WHL next season a better player. As for tmrw, Bolton see the FA Cup as an unwelcome distraction, they'd rather finish 17 in the PL than the win the FA Cup so all being well we'll at least get a replay. We can only improve on Wednesday's performance (it can't get any worse). Nobbys Nobs hope to see you in Bolton, me and our lad enjoyed the chat in Leeds!

66| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-13 23:39:48

Managing Spurs brings added sagginess!

67| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-14 00:03:15

leeds Yid alright fella ..cant do bolton the missus said i could go which means I cant of course. Will be at Stoke and Burnley. Hope we get a result for you

68| Leeds Yid (94.192.33.119) 2010-02-14 01:24:03

No worries Nobby, we're good mate (although proper pissed off after wednesday). If Jenas is playing tmrw (I hope he isn't) I'll give him plenty o grief for you! I'll definetely be at Burnley mate beers are on me!

69| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-14 10:45:40

Went to Wolves ..if they stay up go to the GT Western pub(nr the station) next season it is wicked. . See you at Burnley fella, I would i magine Ill be drinking in the Cricket club, next to the ground.COYS

70| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-14 11:53:28

After the debacle at Wolves I expect nothing less than a win today. 4-0 Spurs...COYS!!

71| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-14 12:27:43

Just read that Dawson will have to have a late fitness test on a bruised ankle...add to that Kaboul being cup-tied and it all hinges on King being fit. If we have to play with Coluka and Bassong I might have to revise my predicted scoreline.

72| kingy (90.212.218.216) 2010-02-14 12:58:18

why has my missus booked a table for 2.00 , fcuckin magic eh

73| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-14 14:10:52

37 mins Crouch is just shite he wont attack the ball,is contributing fk all.Pavleychenko has to come on.

74| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-14 14:19:59

Walker needs to come on too...

75| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-14 14:25:26

The only time in recent history I can remember Spurs being so poor so often is when Jol was being pushed out of the club.I cant help wondering if redknapps legal issues are more important than we are aware and he spends all his time discussing tactics with his lawyer,or Levy has seen enough.Anyway so far we are shite again.

76| tenchman (77.96.245.60) 2010-02-14 14:25:45

pathetic first half , wilson looks like hes been up all night
bale the only player who has played

change it or we are out the cup

77| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-14 14:52:29

phew !

78| TShill7 (65.48.218.121) 2010-02-14 15:04:50

THudd was cacking his pants before that pen - not surprising he missed!!

79| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-14 15:27:00

with kranjcer off form i ont know who should take the pens. Might as well be Wilson tbh as he hasnt scored for us yet.

80| tenchman (77.96.245.60) 2010-02-14 15:48:57

well retrieved -could see that modric was sick this week.
why doesnt kevin davies get picked for england? he's better than heskey.

should have won it but at least were still in the draw
please can we avoid chelsea ?
if we cant aviod them can we please play them at home

81| billy love (90.200.106.251) 2010-02-14 16:03:07

i want my tottenham back

82| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-14 17:49:22

Fulham away...if we can do Bolton.

83| Spezza THFC (82.132.248.64) 2010-02-14 18:35:22

Time for a change in striker partnership. How long have Defoe and crouch played with each other.? Playing like strangers at the mo. That 1st half was bloody shocking, arry just sitting there looking miserable. We play how he is looking now

84| big mart (86.18.246.181) 2010-02-14 18:43:18

hudd aka douglas bader has had one shot on target in weeks, as he always plays thats a small return given thats all he gives, plus silly fouls he needs a rest.kranks and the mod for me as they do for croatia. plus wils and bentley so worrying corluca is our 1st r back

85| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-14 19:32:22

Modric at CM? not on todays performance...or on any performance since his injury for that matter. At one point today he actually ducked and put his arms over his head...I thought he was going to curl up into the foetal postition and call for his mum...

86| WWLATB (86.158.146.208) 2010-02-14 19:59:55

Why did Jo Jordan do the after game interview? I think Arry is in more trouble than we all think.

87| big mart (86.18.246.181) 2010-02-14 20:14:58

good players have short periods of low levels of performance luka is top class and always goes inside as does kranks, cream to top etc.
they will always affect the game as both scored a few games ago, just play best in big games to start as big sides do dont try to rescue it later,

88| nobby nobbs (82.0.227.193) 2010-02-14 20:23:03

ball aimed at Crouch, ball aimed at Crouch, does anyone on here seriously believe that is going to take us forward. Good players are turning to shite under this regime.
Redknapp would rather go to jail than play Pavleychenko.....

89| cobra (82.45.103.227) 2010-02-14 21:25:35

alan, sandro didnt come for one very good reason, he wanted to stay at internacional till the summer, where he will be playing in the south american champions league with his team mates, and has been looking forward to it, so he was never going to come in jan, and he wouldnt have come straight in the team , hed be on the bench, till he was ready, and an itk on forum, reckons deal is already done, and he will be here in the summer , which makes a lot of sense.
and as for spurs lately one word describing their play lately, AUTOPILOT, going through the motions, no thought ,no improvisation, no alertness, dominating with their skill, but not doing much with the dominance, today against bolton WE WERE BLOODY ASLEEP in the first half, and played alright , our usual dominance in the 2nd half, only with a goal and a penalty, which huddlestone was useless at , this guy has a great powerful shot, 1 or 2 times out of 10, but where the bloody hell is the accuracy, and now he cant even score a penalty, and stop referring to this guy as a hoddle player, he isnt, he is nowhere near the quality and skill of our former great GLENN HODDLE, oh if he was in that midfield now , it wouldnt be 4th place, it would be the premier league championship, we have to find that midfielder, creative with a great shot, and gets goals, with palacios covering him. oh and special mention to bale, he was great today, and looked the best player on the pitch, good work.

90| cobra (82.45.103.227) 2010-02-14 21:28:37

oh yes and crouch was bloody useless today.

91| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-14 23:14:24

Ever notice with Crouch, when he trys to control a ball it pings around between his feet first. The guy has no control, it's pointless playing balls up to Crouch, his headers go to no-one, his control is so awful he's always closed down before he can make a pass, he hardly ever manages to get a shot away and if he does it doesn't trouble the keeper.

92| Simon (148.106.128.38) 2010-02-15 08:28:02

I think Harry will be retiring at the end of the season. I had heard from a couple of people who claimed to be "in-the-know" that he has a very dodgy ticker and Docs and his missus wanted him to retire last summer... Think that may expalin why he now just sits in the dugout all match like he is waiting for a bus, showing no interest or emotion in the game.....

93| nobby nobbs (194.116.198.179) 2010-02-15 08:57:26

I dont wish ill health on anyone, but he has done what he was bought in to do. Id rather he left in good health but I care more about Spurs than Redknapp so I hope we are in good health when he leaves us.
Crouch is not good enough to be a target man. Everything is aimed at him, no wonder Kranjcer and Modric look off form, how the fak can the midfield score if everything is amed at Crouch from the middle the wings everywhere.

94| nobby nobbs (194.116.198.179) 2010-02-15 09:07:55

Copuld someone please tell me what Huddlestone has over O'Hara. One is hungry for football the other is just hungary, Ive lost patience with him.Fak him off bring back O'Hara and play him he has the energy to support Palacios. Can anyone really see the purity in our game that means O'Hara should be excluded. Not me.

95| mdb (62.60.98.133) 2010-02-15 09:15:20

well it was a hard match to watch first half. but we certinly improved second half.
Crouch isn't a poor forward. I'm pretty sure he doesn't wan the ball smashed up in the air to him every time. He would much prefer is worked out to Bale/Lennon/Bentley for a cross. sometimes it just looks like Daws Thudd are looking for the 'killer' pass rather than just playing it through. anyway we are still in the cup.
Fulham away should give us the belief we can really push on towards the final. Home win for the replay I say. And lets be honest we never travel well to Bolton.

wigan away next and surely we have to improve!

96| nobby nobbs (194.116.198.179) 2010-02-15 09:20:18

same shite different day.

97| Leeds Yid (85.159.129.82) 2010-02-15 09:35:55

For the first 60 minutes it didn't really feel like a cup tie yesterday, probably due to the lack of any home support. Once we woke up and scored I thought we'd go on to win it, and we probably should of. As for Pav, he warmed up once on the touchline yesterday for all of about 5 minutes Eidur and Nico were warming up all 1st half. It just gave the impression that Pav didn't want to come on, but the other two did. Nobby I know the Cricket Ground, hopefully catch up with you in there (also hoping that we've still got something to play for by then!)

98| mdb (62.60.98.133) 2010-02-15 09:48:59

what was good to watch yesterday was Crouch Davies having nearly every decision blown against them. Those two must wonder why they bother every week!

99| Craig Grant (192.158.34.20) 2010-02-15 12:11:10

I see more mud being thrown around about us being a long ball team. It'll start to stick soon......and probably rightly so.

100| nobby nobbs (194.116.198.179) 2010-02-15 12:27:19

CG I think we already know.

101| Craig Grant (192.158.34.21) 2010-02-15 12:40:08

Time for some 'Boring Boring Tottenham' chants then to leave Harry with no doubt as to how we like to do things at WHL.

102| MKYid (90.218.59.208) 2010-02-15 12:52:48

It'd be less embarassing if the long ball stuff was actually working but whether it goes to Crouch's head or feet we get no joy from him.

103| Craig Grant (192.158.34.20) 2010-02-15 12:57:16

We got some joy from Bale going down the left though......theres a thought Harry !

104| Spezza THFC (194.131.213.33) 2010-02-15 13:04:59

I can picture it now... 'Klinsmann shouting orders from the side line, playing fast - attacking football... and getting the best out of Pav'.... if Harry don't sort this Wimbledon style football out, actually I can't even compare to Wimbledon, because at least they had character and grit..Drop Crouch - for the sake of the team.

105| nobby nobbs (194.116.198.179) 2010-02-15 13:27:26

The long ball is so lazy that the thing, and we have got so much worse over the past few weeks, yes Lennon has been out but Bale has come on really well.
Spezze you are right, Crouch on the bench.
