If wide-spread reports are to believed then Aaron Lennon will today have a scan on his troublesome groin injury that threatens to keep out for a further 2 months.
He suffered the injury against West Ham on December 28th and he was expected to be out for 2-4 weeks but the fact that he has (apparently) been mis-diagnoised by our medical team is not an unfamiliar occurrence this season after seeing both Woodgate and Modric remain injured for longer than initially reported, with the former being sent to specialists in America to figure it out.
Having seen us suffer without Lennon, both in terms of performances and results, I don't think I am alone in fearing any further prolonged absence will have serious implications in our chase for 4th place.
So I am calling on all spurs fans, in David Beckham metatarsal-fashion, to join me in prayer at 11m this morning. If you wish to touch the groin area of the photo that's your call, just try not to do it at work.
I may commit suicide if hes out for 2 omonths!
Would be bad news if it were for the season but I think Bentley could do a job between now and the end of the season.
Unfortunately we have already seen that even the best of Bentley fails to open up defences and actually slows things down (like Keane) to the detriment of our attacks. We're screwed.....
This article is complete wank...Wrong diagnosis bollox...Woody has had that injury for several years and it hasnt been sorted by other clubs medical teams...And Modric returned to training on time following the correct diagnosis but appeared to have a mental problem following the break..
Maybe we should look at changing the medical staff at WHL? They could diagnose the reason for Charles I death.
Sorry! Couldn t diagnose. :)
Count me in
Bentley may not create as many goalscoring chances but he is blocking the opposition down the right. Not ideal but better than expected.
I thought Howard Webb was responsible for the death of Charles 1.
nobby, I don t think Webb has the cahones to take responsibility for any of his actions without referring to old red first. )
I suppose if we keep failing to pose any attacking threat on the right we could always give Rose a go.
Kranjcar could play right
if we carry on with that same spirit i saw at wigan we could just about do with lennon.just
if we carry on with that same spirit i saw at wigan we could just about do with lennon.just
As everyone knows I don't rate Bently so wont say anything more about him. If we are without Lennon for another two months, we must keep playing Bale. Perhaps put him in midfield, with BAE defending, Modric in the middle with Wilson, and perhaps Kranky on the right. Oh and Pav up front with Defoe. If we want to challenge for top four we must have pace and we must create space.
Bentley was better against Wigan - I don't agree with those who have been praising him since he got back into the team - but he still brings us nowhere near the value of Lennon
we must score goals however we do it. We have players who offer a variety of finishes. We must use them to our advantage rather than the oppositions advantage. Huddlestone needs to shoot more. If he doesnt score he may cause the opposition damage.
Bentley is not as good as Lennon and having not played much football in last 18months he probably not going to play as good as he can do. What's encouraging is that he is now putting a proper shift in.
Out of the top 6 to 8 teams in the country how many teams play a rigid 4-4-2 apart from us?
You only have to look at Gerrard to see what happens when a groin problem is not dealt with effectively from day 1 and we didn't do it, probably because if he had had an operation that would have definitely ruled him out for a long period and from the World Cup.
Now he will probably be out of both anyway. S t!
Al, this post was so uninspiring I ended up touching my own groin
Love or hate him, Bentley has stood up to be counted as a team player, ok, he is no Lennon, but, has shown a willingness to compete. Shut the F up, and get behind the lad as well as the others, and lets give them that little push needed to see us to the end. Hopefully to a CL place and FA cup victory.

We need players with fight speaking of which did anyone read that OHara gave Brown a blackeye in training? Good on ya son!
Sounds like Brown deserved a hiding, after a few really tough tackles on O Hara, Brown went in with, what was explained as a leg breaker. O Hara just got up and whacked him. Lol.
the old bale and esso left back thing is the same as england cole bridge joke they can both play either posn but bale crosses better and takes free kicks,we said that last year!!!. on shelf, bale on left mid, harry is a slow thinker we have to live with that.
mdb comment 23 is right for wed team but no hope of that happening.
Some of our first teamers have a virus just intime for the FA Cup game
Well we have just signed another LB only 16 but is being labelled as a Zambian Wonderkid which means he will prob be in the championship in a few years :-)Emmanuel Mbola even played in the african nations cup which means he will get a permit. He comes to us to join a long line of foreign youngsters who promised so much and deleverd very little. Remeber the name Yuri Berchiche anyone? Spanish LB who was suppose to be the next big thing? Perhaps he will be the next Boateng, Tarrabt, Dervitte, Dos Santos or Kaboul. Atleast Harry is good at nuturing youngsters Oh Wait.....
Just to update you on our new signing "cough cough"
Harry Redknapp is baffled by reports claiming that Tottenham Hotspur have signed Zambia teen sensation Emmanuel Mbola.
'I don't know him,' said the Spurs boss. 'We had two kids here from Nigeria training, but I don't know anything about a boy from Angola (sic).
'Maybe the academy have brought him in, but he certainly is not training with the first team.'
Mbola qualifies for a European work permit and is also said to have been attracting interest from West Ham United.
Harry. Baffled. big surprise.
Kranjcar on the right? Doesn't he play on the left...or are we back to square pegs in round holes just to get eveyone on the pitch? My only issues with the current line-up are Crouch because he can't control a ball and the lack of width on the right. Crouch can be remedied by dropping him for Pav. As for the right, either play Rose instead of Bentley or play Walker instead of Corluka. It's a shame about Lennon as I've been dying to see him and Bale in the team together, between them they'll stretch defences to pieces, but Lennon isn't our only option for width, Rose (a young lad we brought from Leeds for about 1m who has pace to burn...remind you of anyone?) could do well, even if only brought on for 20 minutes. Walker is supposed to have played brilliantly this season, so much so that Harry decided to recall him. Bags of pace, good cross on him and can defend well....bit like that Welsh lad who plays on the left! Fcuk me we have the players for the positions so why play people out of position?
Rose does not play on the right he plays left or behind the striker. Plus according to Harry Kranjcar can play across the midfield and he did play rightside successfully on a few occasions for Pompey when harry used to put Muntari on the left. Walker along with Kaboul is cup tied. Kranjcar even came on as a sub for Lennon earlier this season he played on the right and had a good last 20 mins of the game.
So we play Kranjcar on the right...and Rose on the left?
I was thinking in general rather than just the next game. Continuing with thinking, I don't see Bale and Rose working well on the left so scratch my last idea. I just believe Rose would offer more width than Bentley or Kranjcar would on the wing. Same with Walker, Bentley can't beat a man so the addition of someone with pace would benefit the right side. Also, with 2 flying wingbacks it would mean our midfield played tighter probably enableing one of them to get forward more (Modric / Gudjohnsen)?
Leeds completely shut Rose out as an attacking player. He did track back and defend well though.
Play 3 up front, or 2 up front with Modric just behind the the front 2 ie Pav and Defoe( who will need to be more switched on with a more skillful player alongside him)Kranjcar(left) Thud and Palacios in the middle,
Bale,(left) Bassong,Dawson, Corluka across the back.
I remember bale and kranjcer doing really well up at Leeds, also we are not going to win by defending.
I agree, if Bentley is playing an attacking full back would work better afterall he had that at Blackburn with Brett emerton (who is rm but hughes played rb) overlapping him which gives Bentley an extra outlet or atleast occupies a defneder tracking the full backs run. I also agree with you about the width which is why i said Bale LM and BAE LB. Pal holding in a three man midfield behind Gudjohnsen and Modric Bale wide left Kranjcar on the right Pav upfront is what I would go with against Bolton. Good news is that Coyle plans to play some fringe players tommorrow .
For those that don t already know tommorrows game is live on FA webiste

Cheers COYS!
Looks like there is a chance Arry will start with Pav and Gudjohnsen...
Redknapp said of Pavlyuchenko: "When he is in the right frame of mind and works and plays like he did on Sunday, I've always said he is a fantastic talent with great ability. I was delighted for him.
"Thursday, Friday and Saturday, he was the best player in training. Now, if he can score some goals for us between now and the end of season, that's a real bonus for us.
"I need to give Eidur a chance to play - he has looked great in training. I was just looking at a picture of Barcelona parading the Champions League cup last year and Eidur was at the front of the bus.
"Eidur's a top player as well, another player very much in my mind. I need to give him the opportunity to play at some stage."
That will be good to see. I think Pav's comments and performance on Sunday, in my opinion, vindicated his treatment of Pav. He came out after the game and said in the last few days he has trained harder than ever before and acknowledged Harry's praise of him. He then gets a game and gets his reward. He has set the standard now. It's now down to him to continue working hard. Pav strikes me as the kind of player who reacts better to the stick rather than the carrot. His previous manager said before he slapped him around a bit before games!
I think i ll stick with my team for and formation for tommorrow
Gomes
Charlie Daws Bassong BAE
Kranjcar Gudjohnsen Palacious Modric Bale
Pav
COYS I would like to see Bale and BAE in that combination at some point but I would be loathed to lose Modric coming in from the left. I think he is far more effective when he can come in unmarked from wide positions and he is effectively free to do what he wants. It doesn't seem to reduce his impact nor threaten our shape defensively so I don't see the need to change. He played centre against Leeds (albeit without Palacios) and was marked out the game. He then moved back to left against Fulham and was back to his best. Having him cutting from left side also makes us less predictable (or rigid). O'Neil at Villa plays two out and out wingers and I think it's a little too old school. I would like to see Gudjohnsen start, I think he can give us the creativity higher up the field and if so, the case for Modric remaining left is even greater, I feel.
COYs Forgot about Gudjohnson, good first touch could work well.
The reason i say Bale on the left and not Modric is the formation i ve gone with, Modders on the left with 3 in the middle would get way to congeseted if Modders kept coming inside. Modric for me is not quite ready to be one of two in the centre but one of 3 I think would suit him as he has more of a license to roam plus he can play behind the striker so going up to support pav shud be easy and when he supports Eidur stays back and vice versa.
Good point COYS, I agree that Modric in a 442 is not quite ready but as you say in a 3 might be more suitable. I am really looking forward to tomorrow's game. I don't like to see many changes (especially strange ones like the Wolves game) but a fired up, happy, Pav plus a skilful Gudjohnsen is interesting. Defoe getting a rest is no bad thing either (as long as we win!)
We need to try different styles and tactics this type of formation is the only reason I think harry bought Eidur. Were at home against Bolton its the cup and Coyle is going to play some fringe players if you want to try something different your not going to get a better opportunity for the rest of the season.
I'll be looking forward to seeing Pav with Gudjohnsen should they both play together. Gudjohnsen will supply Pav with more than Crouch could (and Gudjohnsen is more likey to score than Crouch)and Pav will enjoy takeing some of them chances...also I'm sure neither would mind too much should it snow some more!
Tactically David Moyes has got it right against Chelsea and Man UTD recently, when they come to the lane the will try to pick out our weakness or potential downfalls and I think our left side with Modric and Bale can be exploited especially if Modric goes inside and Bale overlaps the gaps will be huge, BAE behind Bale against Bolton should be with a view of them being played against Everton IMO.
I am hoping Everton's trip to Lisbon on Thursday affects their performance. IF we get passed Bolton in 90 minutes then we should be a lot fresher come sunday especially if we rotate one or two in the process.
The beauty of playing the team and formation I chose against bolton is depedning on how the game is going changes are easy e.g. were a goal down you bring Defoe on for BAE he goes uptop with Bale taking the left (like Ramos did with OHara when we needed a goal) or if we need to protect a lead you bring on Hudds for Gudjohnsen for that extra stability even Harry couldn t mess up those substituitons.
Lads, I think you are forgetting Gudjohnsen is sh t. Why would we want him in any of our starting lineups? Play the strongest team tomorrow FFS!!
Team for tomorrow..
Mimms - Austin, Edinburgh, Nethercott, Scott - Howells, Dozzell, Zokora, Samways - Doherty, Rasjak...
this team will get us to 4th spot and win us the FA Cup.. -(
COYS
Gudjohnsen is quality, he has been training well and also scored a couple of goals on his debut for the reserves. He is a Harry signing so expect him to start getting minutes real soon.
seriously, can anyone come up with a worse team than that?
Rebrov on the bench spezza?
did that lot really used to play for us!
good grief. the mind boggles at some of the players we've had.
I remember watching Chivers up front
how the hell did we get from him to that shower of shite
Play Rebrov behind ronnie roesnthal and Rasiak.
Rebrov was a class player.. just was in a sh!t team.. he was about 5 seconds in front of everyone else... So, I can't put him in the same category as the others - as they were rubbish whoever they played for.
Bit harsh seeing as a few of then are FA Cup winners. We've had much worse than those mentioned there. Berti and Tramezanni for a start. Booth???? Why did that ever happen?
I can't include Booth as he was only on loan and Tramezzani only played 1 or 2 games. Berti on bench.
Who would you put down as manager? Gross, Santini?
When you start to think about the sh1t players we've had over the years the list is endless really. Paul Moran, Darren Caskey, Andy Turner, Guy Butters, Gilberto, Saib. The one that really used to wind me up though was Ian Walkker. He'd let a goal in and then turn around grinning !!
Jol....
got to be Santini... felt sorry for Gross, given no chance right from the start... and not much money.
I'd probably go for Terry Neil. That's another thing that should never have happened !!
this team is worse actually..
Jenas - Jenas, Jenas, Jenas, Jenas - Jenas, Jenas, Jenas, Jenas - Jenas, ....oh and Jenas.
That team would enjoy a communal bath
I think Gilberto should be in there.
Ossie the manager was a big disappointment. His former teammate Hoddle was no messiah either.
Spezza dead right about rebrov too good by a mile.
Peter Shreeves, Terry Neil,Gary O'Neil(?)Dozell, jesus the name terrifies me if ever a player deserved a verb named after him it was Dozell. Dozell..To squander a glorious opportunity(general)To miss an open goal(football). Dozelled.. to be left open mouthed dumbfounded by your own inability (singular) Dozelled...a state of trance affecting a large group of people following an act of Dozell (collective).
Like I say terrifying.
And it mightve been Gary Reilly.
nobby - absolute quality.. made me wee myself a little
